Suspense + Crime--Feminist Erotica

It's a bit embarrassing to watch the film from 1992 until now. Ha ha.
If this is an erotic film, it is also a suspense+crime-feminist erotica.
From today's point of view, the film's plot, plot jumps, and theme are not outdated at all. .

I admit that watching it once did not fully understand the plot.
A lot of the time, I'd rather think of Sharon Stone's Katherine as a pure, sinless beauty. .
Because her face is so beautiful and her body is so breath-taking. The eyes are so clear.
All of this makes me have to classify her as an angel.
However, her eyes are so captivating, and her every move is full of bewitching.
She's aggressive towards men, and she likes to take the top. That classic cross of hers.
It really left me speechless.

Compared to Stone's femininity,
Douglas and many other men are clearly supporting roles.
All were defeated by her, whether in intelligence, spirit, beauty or physicality.
No one can hide it.
Just like Leslie Cheung's radiance in Farewell My Concubine.

Speaking of the plot, it's quite intriguing.
After thinking about it, I realized that the three women who appeared in it were all killers.

Losey is well identifiable. Because of jealousy, he murdered Nick.
And this woman's love for Catherine is as strong as her character.
Such people always have tragic childhoods and end in tragedy, which is embarrassing.

Beth, another brilliant woman.
Her love for Nick is undeniable.
This could also explain why Nick's boss, Nelson, died?
It was because of his constant investigation of Nick that Beth had to kill him in order to save her lover.
In addition, Catherine and Losey have no reason or motivation to kill such a foolish man.
Only Beth, sacrificing for love makes sense. (The gun provided the proof)
Love, the price of life?
And the man he loves has fled into the arms of another woman. What an irony!

Catherine, this woman is too beautiful and too dangerous,
although she is reluctant to kill Nick now (for the time being, I think Nick is a super awesome Fer),
there is no guarantee that one day the heart-shattering action will cause another bloody murder.
This is definitely a devil-like woman who fights against the patriarchal society with her intelligence and body.
It also left us many amazing moments and memories of human desires.

PS

The only thing that confuses me is the relationship between Katherine and Beth. Which of the two of them is telling the truth?
Are the books that Beth left behind because of her obsession with Katherine or to help Nick escape the murder of his companion? ?

Sorry Sharon, I'm gay. Michael Douglas is hot, tho. To some extent, this is a popular conservative (huh) version of "The Fourth Man" that Verhoeven shot for Americans, and Renée Soutendijk almost played Catherine

I don't think it looks good, but sister Sharon is not bad

Basic Instinct quotes

  • Gus: Forgive me for asking, and I don't mean to belabor the obvious, but why've you got your head so far up your ass

Nick: She wants to play. Fine, I can play.

Gus: Everybody she plays with dies.

  • Beth Garner: Something's going on. You're sleeping with her, aren't you?

Nick: Why are you interested in her?

Beth Garner: My interest is in you, not her. She seduces and manipulates people. She'll do anything she can.

Nick: I thought you hardly knew her?

Beth Garner: I know the type. I'm a psychologist.

Nick: That means... you manipulate people too! You're a practicing psychologist. You're better at it than she is!
