"Polar Express" is a visual feast of inaccurate positioning

It doesn't take long to see how much money this movie burns. From the sound effects to the rendering of the scene, everything is gorgeous. After reading a search, as expected, a large investment of more than 100 million yuan. The design of the story is actually very interesting. A child who has just passed the age of believing in Santa Claus took a peculiar polar express on Christmas night and went to the North Pole where Santa Claus is stationed, and experienced a dream trip. At the end of the film, the gorgeous Christmas scene, like a childhood dream, is incredibly beautiful. Familiar Christmas carols have been re-arranged to re-impress me. There are all kinds of difficulties and obstacles when going to the North Pole, there is no shortage of whimsy, and there is the exciting excitement of an action blockbuster, coupled with Tom Hanks' hard-working performance, logically, there is no reason for such a film to fail.

No, the market has proven that combining several good elements together is sometimes not the optimal choice.

This is a strange film. The most strange thing is that it seems to have no audience positioning at all. The style deviation from left to right is as depressing as the train running on ice in the film. If it is a children's film for children, its style is too realistic, the little boy is not cute, and the worst thing is, the expression is not vivid at all, and in some places, it is too scary, or it is too American blockbuster. Saying it is an adult-oriented childhood dream is too pedagogical. The educational dialogue between the hero and heroine makes me feel the urge to fast-forward from time to time. I don't believe Santa's children say "I believe ",Unconvincing. Call it All Age, and it lacks the warm naturalness and subtle sense of humor of Ratatouille. Compared with "Harry Potter", it lacks the unique world view and strong British flavor and unique character of "Ha". The male lead is not cute enough, the female lead is too serious, and the man with the eyes who should be responsible for being funny is such a bad boy. The high-tech polar Christmas base is amazingly imaginative, but the layers of foreshadowing are finally destroyed by a bland Santa Claus. Such a film, no matter if it is made darker, brighter, sweeter, or bigger, the effect is better than it is now, but it is a pity that it is not good or bad, and it is no wonder that the audience does not buy it. The golden mean doesn't work in animation.

Perhaps learning from the experience of "Pole", the director has improved a lot in "Monster House". The texture of the characters is no longer pursued realistically, in order to focus on better shaping the expressions of the characters (Comparing Monster House and Polar Express, the hair of "Monster" is far less delicate than that of "Extreme", but the expressions of the characters are much better). The time was changed to Halloween, the tone was adjusted to be more subtle and balanced, and the didactic meaning of the story was reduced. Although the gorgeous effect is not as good as "Extreme", the viewability can be added a lot. In any case, as a technical experimental work, "Polar Express" has a lot to see and a lot of boring points, and viewers may wish to weigh it.

The rating is not high, the IMDB is lower, but the overall visual effect is very good. Although it is not 3D, the atmosphere is very good. Winter nights, adventures, similar to the bad taste and small tension in the chocolate square, but in the end it is Heal you with love. Hanks' role is a good fit.

Robert Zemeckis has been playing live-action a lot lately...but he's not bad at it...

  • [last lines]

Hero Boy: At one time most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.

  • The Conductor: There would be no Christmas without the Polar Express arriving on time! Am I the only one who understands that?

    [He sees the Hero Boy]

The Conductor: You! I should have known. Young man, are you bound and determined that this train never reaches the North Pole?

    Hero Girl: But, look!

[the Conductor sees that all of Caribous]

    The Conductor: Caribou Crossing?

Smokey: I make this herd to be at least a 100,000, maybe even a million. It's going to be hours before they clear this track!

Steamer: A tough nut to crack!

The Conductor: We are in some serious jelly!

    Smokey: And a jam!
