I don't know how to write a good movie review. I just want to record some associations while watching the movie and the mood after watching the movie. Because I probably won't remember when I wake up tomorrow.
As usual, after get off work, I tried to find a friend to play a killing game, but unfortunately I could not find a like-minded partner who just happened to have this leisure time. So I bought some fruit, moved some snacks, and found a movie, so let's enjoy the night alone.
I chose this "Side Effect" by accident, and after reading the introduction, it was about the only spiritual sustenance of a girl suffering from depression - her beloved husband was released from prison, but her condition did not improve because of this, instead she suffered from taking drugs. Side effects of dizziness and memory loss. One day, her husband's body is found in the apartment, and Emily is the biggest suspect, but she doesn't remember what happened. Personally, I like suspense and American dramas. The movie starts...
The movie opens, the camera zooms in from the apartment, and you can see the mottled blood in the apartment. This is the scene where the husband of the heroine mentioned in the introduction was killed. Then the screen shows "Three Months Ago".
The beautiful heroine appeared, Rooney Mara (the girl in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"), as usual, went to the prison to visit her husband. However, her life is still colorless, sexually frigid, insecure, in a trance, attempted suicide, and then sought the help of a psychiatrist (male protagonist)... The movie seems to keep the twilight tone, plus Rooney's melancholy eyes, let I was miserable and empathy flooded. It turns out that depression patients are like this, thinking of their ordinary life, sentimental, will they have depression one day, but it's okay, the sun is shining recently.
The first half of the movie tells the story of a girl who was treated for depression and had side effects due to taking a new drug. It is run through two main lines. One is that the female protagonist is troubled by depression and seeks help from doctors and drugs, hoping to get rid of depression. When the new drug is effective At the same time, the side effects of the drug also appeared at the same time, but she was still reluctant to give up the new drug until the tragedy happened; 2 is the male protagonist as a psychiatrist, treating patients, participating in new drug research projects, and his family life, until his patient heroine His life has also changed significantly after she fell in love with her husband and sued a pharmaceutical company for the side effects of a new drug. In the end, the male protagonist investigates step by step and discovers a shocking secret.
Seeing this, I thought it was going to expose the drug makers for ignoring side effects and shirking the blame on psychiatrists or something, and then I thought it was too simplistic, and the final outcome was extremely dramatic, well, no spoilers, go and see for yourself.

Side Effects quotes

  • Emily Taylor: Imagine everything you ever wanted shows up one day and calls itself your life. And then just when you start to believe in it - gone. And suddenly it gets very hard to imagine a future. That's depression, right?

  • Emily Taylor: I read somewhere that there's a difference between tears of joy and tears of rage. Is that true? It's in the chemistry, but you can't tell by looking, they all just look like tears.
