it's all about power

This is a US war story called "Charles Artillery Company" during the 1942-1943 Battle of Guadalcanal. During the massive Battle of Guadalcanal, Charles's Company sought to retake the position known as No. 210 from the Japanese. What impressed me most about this movie was an American soldier who said, "It's all about power." Yes, all war waging and commanders are for power and honor. In the context of their most rights and honor, the physical and psychological pain and the cost of life suffered by soldiers, this may be the theme of the film. But it is always said that war is poisoning people's minds, and it is meaningless. War just makes people see the reality of society more clearly and intuitively. Peace of mind comes when it comes, thinking about peace on the front lines of war is a cowardly and evasive deserter. There are deserters in war, and there are deserters in life. I'm not an anti-war and I don't want to denigrate an anti-war, but I am sure: there is no peace, only a truce. The narration in the film does not elevate the film and make it pale, because the film is performed, not spoken. The film was neither a documentary nor a war movie, and it was understandable that it was a flop at the box office.

I saw the bloody slaughter under the blue sky and white clouds of the green hills and green valleys, and saw the traces of his lightly tracing on the blood-stained leaves; the monologue and consciousness penetrated through the cruelty and became the highlight of the film; he had seen another world, he believed in the world before him It's just imagination; the warmth embraced in memories, the tearful reading of letters on the battlefield; Malik has never stopped exploring nature and questioning humanity.

The war version of the Tree of Life, the way of thinking and some themes are in the same line, but not so obsessive~ Probably my favorite one of the films I have seen so far in Malick~ Many clips are quite oppressive and emotional, but sometimes The emotional mood has reached the point where the monologue is 15 minutes and it is inevitable to be hypocritical. It feels like it can be cut for at least half an hour~ Also, the big cast is blinding~ Besides, the memories of the wife are all good dramas, and it is not a death flag~

The Thin Red Line quotes

  • First Sgt. Edward Welsh: This army's gonna kiII you. If you were smart, you'd take care of yourself. There's nothing you can do for anybody else. You're just running into a burning house where nobody can be saved.

  • Marty Bell: Come out. Come out where I am.
