Black and white movies that enlighten me

This is probably the weirdest black and white movie I've ever seen.

It may also be that I don't watch much, especially silent films.

The exaggerated expressions and body language of the characters in the film impressed me a lot, especially when there is a conflict in the plot, the development is not abrupt, which is a very special viewing experience for me.

There is also the acceleration shot of the character movement. I don’t know if the original movie is handled in this way. It looks quite emotional. Now I rarely see this kind of shot processing.

Because I don't know much about the director and the theme of the film, I think it's a religious-themed film that satirizes the future of human society.

The hints about the future society, such as robots, labor exploitation and lifestyle, are quite accurate, and I will consider watching more of this director's works in the future.

The horror and blindness of the mass power movement; the labor disputes under German expressionism; the contradiction between the old-fashioned backward entrepreneur and the son who is willing to share the suffering of the working class in pursuit of advanced consciousness; dramatic exaggerated expressions And lighting; Maria's waist is really soft, she must be studying ballet. Speaking of which, it is really an allegory of Christ, but under the understanding of Chinese thinking, that is, under the subtle influence of the Marxist philosophy of class struggle, it is believed that the Machine Mary teaches people to resist, and is the side of justice, but in the biblical-Christian theology. In the conceptual field, the machine Mary is the villain, the devil, the existence of the viper in the Garden of Eden, teaching ignorant people to rebel against the authority of God. Two very different systems of thought.

145 points version. It is not difficult to have unrealistic "fantasies", but turning "fantasies" into reality requires not only courage and wisdom, but also technology. Now it seems a little cliché of justice over evil, the ruling class and the working class shaking hands with each other, and the happy ending of sweet love, especially the main theme. However, this does not affect the black and white silent film as radiant as its poster.
