The Insider--Differences In Values Affect Aesthetics

There are too many differences in the values of Chinese and Americans, and this film just reflects this. It should be an inspiring and inspiring story, so I watched it in a chaotic state, not excited. There are no surprises, just like a task has been completed.

Take a look at the cast and crew of "The Insider." Director Michael Mann, two big stars, Al Pacino and Russell Crowe, plus the struggle between justice and darkness, conscience and interest, and the imdb With results in the top 250, this lineup still leads me to a bland conclusion. First of all, look at its story. It is a typical Hollywood story, nothing new. It is good to adapt it according to real events, but it is not necessary to describe the running account; secondly, the performance of the actors is quite satisfactory, and you can't do too much in such a theme. His personal performance, but if I want to praise Russell Crowe, I always feel that he is suitable for playing the role of a brave and tough guy, but his performance in this film is somewhat amazing, so much so that I didn’t even know it when he first appeared on the set. Recognize it; in the end, it is the value issue mentioned above. Everyone on earth knows that cigarettes are harmful to health. The bosses of the seven major tobacco companies collectively swore that they did not know, and fools could see that they were lying. Expose this fact, and this person is the former vice president of a certain tobacco company who was fired. This story is simply absurd in China. You are not deceiving people, and it is a typical backlash. But, mind you, this is a real event in the US, which has to make me think about the differences between the two countries. The United States is a society ruled by law; everything is based on the law, and there must be evidence for everything, so this kind of situation is reasonable in their view, but China is different. There is room for change. Anyone who wants everything in China to follow the script is a fool, so I can't understand the foolishness of the Americans because of this.

Movies are good movies, but who makes us ugly Chinese? I can only bury it in my hard drive and delete it gracefully when there is no hard drive space.

The subject matter is very good, and the plot is slightly procrastinated. If the role played by Christopher Plummer is replaced by Kevin Spacey, it would be dead, and the three most favorite Hollywood actors from the same stage will not be so cool!

Two people with different identities and occupations sacrificed their own interests, reputation, future and even their entire lives for the sake of morality and principles. For me living in China in 2017, the biggest shock is that this is an adaptation of a true event

  • Lowell Bergman: I did not burn you. I did not give you up to anyone!

Jeffrey Wigand: This is my house... In front of my wife, my kids? What business do we have?

Lowell Bergman: To straighten something out with you. Right here. Right now.

Jeffrey Wigand: So, you didn't mention my name? You haven't talked to anybody about me?

Lowell Bergman: Why am I gonna mention your name?

Jeffrey Wigand: How did Brown & Williamson know I spoke to you...?

Lowell Bergman: How the hell do I know about Brown & Williamson?

Jeffrey Wigand: It happened after I talked to you. I do not like coincidences!

Lowell Bergman: And I don't like paranoid accusations! I'm a journalist. Think. Use your head. How do I operate as a journalist by screwing the people who could provide me with information before they provided me with it?

Jeffrey Wigand: [pauses] ... You came all the way down here to tell me that?
