Spielberg has changed the naive, tired and cold perspective of the original book into a warm, noble and even provocative perspective.
Jimmy's fanaticism reminds me of the little boy in AI. The difference is that Jimmy is not lovable. He is too capable, too mature and too naive.
Bessie is the other extreme, extremely slick, and what exactly is his affection for Jimmy, this one is subtle: are they friends or just exploit? Who takes advantage of whom?
Ah, I really like Bell's voice at this time, even if it is screaming and shouting, it is cute.
