classic suspense

A very good suspense movie. In that era of black and white movies, it was a blessing for movie fans to be able to produce such excellent movies. The whole film seems to be intertwined, and the whole process is full of interest. It feels reluctant to watch it after chasing it again and again. In this film, I sincerely admire the lawyer played by Charles Laughton for his eloquent eloquence, a great sense of justice, and his humane judging style, as well as his wise, unsmiling appearance but full of enthusiasm, rigorous defense wording, Great sense of humour that I couldn't help but fall in love with. Of course, the role played by Marlene Dietrich has also done her duty and is very outstanding. The cold, mysterious, alternative sexiness and full of elegance and calmness make her a thunderous, not only the eyes of men, but also the eyes of women. They couldn't help but add more time to their stay.

In the last ten minutes, one after the other, the burden was shaking to the point of dazzling, but it was not stiff and childish, only delicate. When the dust settled on the result of the trial, the look of his wife lying outside the door and looking over was so uncomfortable that she panicked. The script, lines, shots, performance, rhythm are all bad, it's hard to believe that this is a work from 60 years ago.

Stunned, since 1957, there is no "reversal" plot that can surpass this movie

Witness for the Prosecution quotes

  • Sir Wilfrid: Aw, Miss Plimsoll, how yearning you look!

  • Sir Wilfrid: [to Brogan-Moore] Oh, pardon, Mrs. Vole, handle her gently especially when you break the news of the arrest. Bear in mind, she's a foreigner. So be prepared for hysterics and even a fainting spell. Better have smelling salts ready, a box of tissues and a nip of brandy.

Christine Vole: [Enters Mrs. Vole] I do not think that will be necessary. I never faint because I'm not sure that I will fall gracefully and I never use smelling salts because they puff up the eyes. I'm Christine Vole.
