But without a lover by your side, eternal life is hell.
In this film, I want to discuss two issues, one is the death penalty, and one is how do we end up
The death penalty is an issue that I never considered before I learned about the Liu Xin case. However, when I saw the bitter coffee mother crying on Weibo, asking the world to give her justice, I learned that the death penalty is a way for people to vent their hatred in a reasonable way. In this film, the protagonist's reason for opposing the death penalty is that it is time for retribution. A tit-for-tat behavior is not the way our civilized society should be.
But I don't think so. In the face of those who killed our loved ones, what should we do with them? with tear? or with fear?
If everyone can forgive those who killed their relatives, the world may not only be Datong, but aloof. Maybe one day in the future we will be able to separate a person's actions from himself, but that's not now. Your actions make up your collection.
How should we end our life? This is what is lacking in our education system, education about death. I haven't really faced death yet. But I think, Inoue Yasushi wrote in "Notes of My Mother" that when your parents die, you and the screen before death will be completely removed. I still remember when I was in elementary school or kindergarten, the first time I experienced death, it was dark, cruel, and it made me feel guilty. Over the years, I couldn't forgive myself, and while I knew it had absolutely nothing to do with me, I really felt the power of death.
The protagonist chooses to dedicate his life to the cause he loves the most. I don't think it's a great thing. It might just be something everyone is doing. But his greatness is that he knows very well what he wants to dedicate his life to. Many of us don't actually know. However, it is also "giving". A social animal, he dedicated his life to work and making money; an artist, he dedicated his life to his expression. I don't think the two are any different.
Life and time are inherently consumables, and how to consume them depends on the individual's choice and understanding.
Having said that, I still admire his decisiveness and thoroughness. He and she knew what they wanted to dedicate in this life.
