1997 was not a good year for Britain and its Queen.
On July 1, the pearl that belonged to China, known as the Queen's crown, finally returned to where it should belong. Then on August 31, the former princess Diana, who had broken away from the royal family, and her new boyfriend. Died in a car accident in Paris...

"The Queen" tells the story of the Queen and her new Prime Minister Blair in the summer of 1997, from conflict to reconciliation to understanding on the incident of Princess Diana's death. Through this summer , we saw the mental journey of the "most watched" king during that time.

Helen Mirren's performance is impeccable in this film. She shows the Queen's persistence and compromise, the Queen's strength as a king and her weakness as a woman. Her imitation of the queen and her own understanding are blended so appropriately and vividly that one wonders if she has had a long communication with the queen. But if you have seen her performance in HBO's TV series "Elizabeth I", you will not have any doubts, she was born to play the queen, whether it is Elizabeth II, who is resolute and forbidding, or the external Elizabeth I, who is free and easy in her heart but longs to be loved.

"Queen" has been released on a small scale in North America after sweeping the Venice Film Festival in 2006. It has been 25 weeks and is still in the top 20 at the box office. From the fact that the distribution company has not expanded the scale of the show, it can be seen that they want to play a long-term Catch a big fish, and this fish is the upcoming Golden Globes and Oscars, presumably best actress and best screenplay are very likely. So isn't my favorite Meryl Streep a match? Fortunately, the Golden Globes are divided into drama and musical comedy.

The Queen quotes

  • Robin Janvrin: I understand how difficult her behaviour must seem to you. How unhelpful. But, try to see it from her perspective. She's been brought up to believe it's God's will. She is who she is.

Tony Blair: I think we should leave God out of it.

  • Cherie Blair: Don't you think she deserves it? Sitting up there on her 40,000 acres.

Tony Blair: Yeah, but allowing her to hang herself, might not be in our best interest either. Besides, I think there's something ugly, about the way everyone started to bully her.
