Nine-year-old Oscar Shire's father was killed in the 9/11 accident, leaving a shadow on his young heart. Inadvertently Oscar finds an envelope with "Black" written on it and a key. Oscar thinks that this is a clue left by his father to find him, and there must be some secret behind the key. Oscar told the secret to the old grandpa who couldn't speak. Every weekend since then, Oscar has searched five boroughs for people with the surname "Black." Before his death, his father and Oscar planned a game of "reconnaissance and exploration" to find the sixth city, and told Oscar: don't stop searching.
