Before there was Alonso King's thunderous "The Social Network", and then there was another version of Joe's biopic that Alonso King was planning to shoot. "Biography" as a whole always reveals a bit of emptiness. Of course, in terms of the market, it is a military tactic to take the lead, not to mention that the producer has indeed brought in Aston Kutcher, who looks like 80% of his features. In addition, the film focuses on the youth, and the long hair and beards better cover the edges and corners of the actors, so as to avoid the now well-known bald glasses shape accepting more severe comparisons.
Biopics are not easy to make, especially when the central characters themselves are in great controversy. Good or bad, right or wrong, it is difficult for outsiders to accurately comment. Human life is inherently complicated, and how much can be explained by condensing it into two hours. To put it bluntly, many directors actually use the lives of others to explain their outlook on life. The reason is the same, let's see how each method works.
Of course, unlike mainland films, which habitually praise the deceased, American films have no intention of whitewashing their shortcomings even if they want to praise the good. Since this biopic strives to be released as quickly as possible, the way it chooses is to grasp the "facts" as much as possible. There are many details that have been directly restored in the official biographies, and there are even jokes that can cause negative feelings, whether it is hacking the rewards of partners before debut, or the resolute attitude towards the ex-wife, mother and child, or seeing the mania of the windows system. But the story is only shown, not responsible for explanation. When these behaviors occur, there is not much corresponding plot to enrich the motivation. So in the end, it leaves a fragmentary impression on the audience. As for the accepted evaluation among colleagues of "Tyrant", there is not much space.
In fact, there is a reason for this conservative treatment. In the event that the drama that is made up is too deified, not only the outside audience who keep a distance will not buy it, but even if the fans watch it, it will not be right, and there are many examples of breaking the horse's legs. If there is a major subversion, discussing claims that cannot be perfectly explained, you have to face the consequences that may offend either party. Therefore, "Jobs Biography" does not intend to let people who don't know much about Jobs "know" Jobs very much, and only start with "knowing".
One low after another and one success after another punctuated his big moments. The rise of several paragraphs is a fait accompli, so it is not described in detail. Especially when he was impeached from the company by Apple's board of directors, and relied on NEXT to re-emerge in the critical years, he was carried by a few pieces of news. It seems that without Steve Jobs, Apple will not be able to compete normally. It has to be said that such a narrative may be able to avoid falling into tedious explanations, but it is indeed a pity that it has not accumulated too much of the character's own strength. Why did Jobs succeed, why he created a trend, and why Apple can be so "cool". Maybe anyone can't answer accurately, but that doesn't mean they can't keep asking. The script only concentrates on one point, repeatedly emphasizing his persistence in innovation and details, stubbornness, and even paranoia.
Looking at it from a distance, some small paragraphs also took a lot of thought. It's like feeling the nature after getting high on the grass, going out and traveling, looking for enlightenment of the true meaning of self; like his second recruitment, there has been a significant change in his attitude and control of his subordinates. The "blandness" felt by all sides may really be the director's final choice. He just wants to film this person's experience. The camera follows the tall figure walking through the campus and the aisle of the company. On the opposite side of his rough and friendly side, there are various supporting characters who appear like morning stars. They help or hinder Jobs, they adore and disappoint. Abandoned, but eventually disappeared in the dark. Only one priest remains. If there is a certain moment, the picture of being at a high place can be expressed, at least it is comparable to the loneliness of Zuckerberg's ex-girlfriend page at the end. In the first scene of his youth, young Jobs was called up on the sofa. He rubbed his
eyes and muttered to himself, "Hey, I'm awake."
Empty and cold.
