Thinking of the protagonist's loss of his mother in The Outsider, the cognitive dissonance is strongest when both discordant cognitions are important. In this case, the most intricate efforts to reduce dissonance will occur. Individuals will tend to attempt cognitive restructuring that requires more effort, not just attitude changes, or small changes in perception of the outside world. The individual adds some cognitions, adjusts others, thinks more deeply about the inconsistency of their cognitions, or uses some other means of gradually putting everything into place to achieve a state of harmony.

Demolition quotes

Chris: Sometimes I imagine his dick in my mouth.

    Davis: Oh. That's different.
