Let's talk about the trailer first. The trailer is really well done. The plots of the seven old men are all representative. As far as the trailer is concerned, the plot is very compact and makes people rush into the theater to watch it.
To be honest, I have no problem with the acting skills of the actors, whether it is Maggie as a picky old lady, or Judi as a widowed woman in her old age, Bill and Penelope as a couple with many different personalities, or Tom as the search for 40 years ago. The old man with cancer who came back to India as a gay lover, and even Dev, who worked hard for love, can be said to have a clear image. I love the few shots of them when they were in transit, that row, that is a style, an aura.
But the only shortcoming of the film is that the plot is not full enough, so I want to draw a curve, but the corners are not smooth enough, too angular, and it looks very stiff. Judi's narration added a lot of color to the film. I thought she was the main line of the film, but in fact she only did 4/5 of the main line at most. When the hotel faced difficulties and was on the verge of bankruptcy, it was Mrs. Maggie who turned the tide. It's not impossible if the foreshadowing is done in the early stage, but the turn here is too fast and it feels too abrupt. Then there is the fact that Bill and Judi's twilight love comes too suddenly. For the elderly, the relationship heats up too quickly, so it shouldn't be very realistic! In addition, for Dev, I am a little disappointed, the performance has not improved much, and it is more bright in front of these old players.
It can only be said that the film has a good collection of actor resources, and the picture processing is also very good, but the storyline is really thin.
These hardcore guys deserve better movies.
