A good movie

The heroine is not beautiful but has a lot of charm, the twin brothers are very cute, and Marcus is very emotional even though there is not much expression.

Death as a topic is not always on the surface but still it is nice to know there will be an exit down the road.

This thought is calming espcially when discontent fills the mind, when too much calculation in daily life bearing down the ability to feel happy and when too much time is spent agonizing over what is desired though not necessarily needed.

A niche film. I like it very much. About love and sorrow. Faint, but a long aftertaste. Like a light French meal with white wine. In addition, the soundtrack is also beautiful.

The Eastwood I watched before was always a fusion of the cruelest reality (the surrounding world) and the purest warmth (the protagonists), and it was always heart-wrenching to watch. But it seems that the latter has completely overshadowed the former, and the cruel side is only taken by a few supporting characters (Damon's brother, the reporter's lover) insignificantly. So this is basically a purely warm sensational film (← can't judge whether his feelings are praise or derogation)

Hereafter quotes

  • Dr. Rousseau: You know, as a scientist and, um, atheist my mind was closed to such things. Oh, absolutely. Afterlife, near-death experiences. Like everyone else, I thought people saw bright lights, Eden-like gardens and so forth because they were culturally conditioned to do so, but after twenty-five years in a hospice working with people, many of whom were pronounced dead but then miraculously survived, the account of what they actually experienced were so strikingly similar it couldn't just be coincidence. And add to that the fact that when they had these experiences they were almost all unconscious, a state in which, my enemies agree, the brain cannot create fresh images.

Marie Lelay: So you think I really did experience something?

Dr. Rousseau: Oh, yes.I think you experienced death.

  • Billy: [about George] He said, "A life that's all about death is no life at all."
