maxxie is gay and anwar is from a devout and serious islamic family,
(although anwar is not devout or even rebellious to muslims...)
so anwar is afraid to tell his father that he has a gay friend.
But when Anwar's father learned that Maxxie was gay, he didn't resist but said something like this:
It's a fucking stupid ,messed-up world.
Some things I just can't work out,
so I have them be,even if I think they are wrong.
Because I know one day, I will understand. At
that moment I stopped the tears that were about to fall.
I thought of a sentence: let it be.
People are inherently different individuals, and we need not only boundaries but also space. There will always be friction when we get along, because you and I come from different backgrounds, small from different families, and big from different countries. Everyone is always instilled with certain values in the process of growing up. As we grow older, some of us will accept them all, and some will critically pass them on. Everyone has their own values and beliefs. We sometimes have a really hard time understanding the actions of people who are contrary to our own ideas. Maybe we will think that homosexuality is SICK, maybe we will think that homosexuality is ACCEPTABLE, maybe our contradictions and disagreements are not limited to sexual orientation, but even more. Homosexuality, which seems to touch the moral and religious bottom line of Muslims, was accepted by Anwar's father. I can understand what he said. Instead of going against his own beliefs to recognize homosexuality, he chose to accept different cultures and different facts in a complicated world. Maybe it was wrong in his own eyes, and he chose to accept them. That should be something people are born with - love. It is love that makes everyone accept each other, and it is love that makes this world free from yellow, black and white people. Perhaps discrimination and confusion still exist. There may be too many things that we cannot understand based on our own values, but please accept it with a generous attitude, LET IT BE.
