Guilt and redemption

Stay is a cycle of reincarnation and dreaming between life and death. The most real thing in the whole movie is only the last bridge scene. The director uses the lens to cut and switch ingeniously, and the process of color from clear to blurred and twitching vividly shows the process of Henry's pre-death consciousness from clear to blurred, self-blame, guilt and the extravagant hope of wishing to be satisfied. A grand illusion and redemption. If this is a dream, the whole world is inside it. It is a tribute and innovation to David Lynch's Mulholland Drive

  • Henry Letham: An elegant suicide is the ultimate work of art.

  • Lila Culpepper: You know, the day I did it, I took two razorblades to the bathtub. You know why? Because I knew that once I started to bleed, I'd get weak. And I didn't wanna drop one blade and leave myself half done. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine hating your life so much that you'd wanna bring a backup razor?
