crazy director

Personally, I don't like this movie very much. I thought it was a genre like "Brave Heart". Very devout believers come to promote the teachings, and they almost write the sentence "I dedicate this film to the great and almighty God" at the beginning of the film. In addition, Joan of Arc is a neurotic and manic patient. His eyes have always been crazy, and his screams and actions are even more crazy. He is full of anger and never stops. It makes me nervous, and even A little irritable. Perhaps this is also the performance of the director and actor level.

However, apart from the content factor, the technical processing of the whole film, such as the lens, is still quite good. Especially in the final dialogue between God and her, the visual lens is much better than the verbal description, at least I like this treatment. The man who was supposed to be God, of course I meant the young man, not the old man, who looked exactly like the Jesus I imagined, with great features and eyes. In fact, if I think about it again, I will feel very similar to him playing Satan, hey, God and the devil are one step away. And it seems that when the deep meaning is revealed at the end, there is a bit of this meaning.

In short, this film was shot in two words: crazy. Pretty crazy.

The war scenes are not worth mentioning. Just like children playing at home, I really don't like Luc Besson adding his self-righteous humor to various types of movies, which ruins the overall feel of the film. Mira's slightly neurotic performance is impressive. For the history of Joan of Arc, each director has a different interpretation method. The second half of the film is still worth thinking about.

The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc quotes

  • Joan of Arc: I did not come here to perform tricks. You're all much cleverer than I am. Me, I don't know A from B. But this much I do know. That while the people of France lie bleeding, you sit around in your fine clothes trying to deceive me, when you're only deceiving yourselves. You say you are men of God. Yet, you do not see His hand in having guided me through 500 leagues of enemy country to bring you His help. Is that not proof enough? Do you still need more signs?

  • La Hire: [praying] I swear that I will never swear again in my life, if you save her life. But I'm warning you, if you let her die, then you're the biggest...

Joan of Arc: Laxart! Don't swear.

    La Hire: He heard me.
