After watching,
first of all, I am speechless about the introduction of the film with incest as its beak.
Let's talk about the two leading actors. As a trans, what Bree desires most is respect from others. With the firmest determination in her life (3 minutes hotter than other things), 'she' has gone through this journey that can be said to be the epitome of 'her' bumpy experience. 'She', who has a wealth of knowledge, also has an intact soul.
And what little handsome Toby lacks is love. With an unbearable past, he only knows how to express his love for others with skin-to-skin... But it is rare to have a pure heart.
In the process of traveling together, the relationship between the two people was initially strange and disgusting, and after getting to know each other to a certain extent, it became intimate; when the intimacy further became love, it fell to the bottom due to Bree's disclosure of the truth. So far away, fortunately, it ends with a reunion. While the ending isn't as fulfilling as a romantic drama, it's reasonable and hopeful.
ps: It is worth mentioning the 2 old songs in the film: "Home on the range" and "Beautiful Dreamer". The familiar melody reminds me of the Chinese version that I can't remember when I learned it, and the singing time when I was young.
pps: Sudden love for road trips! And there must be 2 of them!

Transamerica quotes

  • Calvin: [when Bree coughs after drinking mescal] That'll put hair on your chest.

Bree Osbourne: [clasps hands as if praying] Hope not.

    [laughs]

  • Toby: How come an Indian wears a cowboy hat?

Calvin: Well, I guess it's because it keeps the sun out of my eyes better than a head band and a couple of eagle feathers.
