The story behind the rabbit

When I first saw Peter Rabbit, I felt very cordial and wanted to cry. Because I had an almost identical little book when I was a kid, it was given by an American couple. All the details are exactly the same as in the movie, the same layout, the same title page, the same cover and font... As Miss Potter specially requested, a small format, a cheap price. I even remember the price behind it was $2.90.
After watching the movie, I realized why there are only 31 short illustrations, because it can fit on a large page in order to save costs. As a result, the classic 31 illustrations will remain forever, and 100 years later, it is still the best-selling category of children's books. Each picture is so familiar that I remember their composition, their order.

The story told by the film 100 years later has the feeling of history repeating itself to some extent. When I was a child, I never imagined that there was a so-called "leftover girl" story behind the rabbit.

Miss Potter is not pretty enough, well educated, kind, and out of touch with the world. But the only thing she insists on is that she is unwilling to marry the blind date arranged by her parents, so that at the age of 32, she is no longer ready to get married, which fits in with many leftover women in today's society. What touched me the most was the sentence she said against her father: I can't marry someone who is only rich enough to take care of me, am I going to lose the chance to be loved?

She's not a feminist, she's not even strong. She wrote simple stories like a little girl, but she took that as her career, and demanded to be respected, to be loved, to be loved spiritually.

She succeeded, she was not only recognized in her career, but also gained love. It was almost a match made in heaven, but it was taken back by God.

Real estate developers bid for land and grab profits, which is exactly the same as today's Chinese society. Miss Potter, who lost her beloved, began to use her income to buy land and protect the green pastoral. When she was about to move to the manor she bought, her mother wondered where she got the money. It can be seen that at the beginning of women's independence, economic independence was considered incredible by their own peers.

Later, she has been living by the beautiful lake. Looking at the picturesque scenery in the movie, I have been looking forward to the director to give another shot of Norman, so that we can understand how Miss Potter misses him, but there was none.

But the song at the end is when it's time to recreate Norman, and that When you taught me how to dance is really tear-jerking. Just like when I cry from the Hound of Flanders, it makes people unable to calm down for a long time.

It doesn't mean much, but the actor's acting is good.

Miss Potter quotes

  • Rupert Potter: Our daughter is famous, Helen. You're the only person who doesn't know it.

  • Beatrix Potter: [voiceover] There's something delicious about writing those first few words of a story. You can never quite tell where they will take you. Mine took me here, where I belong.
