The film "Joint Guard" re-analyzes and interprets the reality of the North-South division of the Korean peninsula from the perspective of human nature. In the film, the Korean and North Korean soldiers develop from opposing garrison soldiers to friends but meet each other, which is quite dramatic and at the same time does not lose connotation. Taking the investigation of headless cases as the main line, interspersed with both true and false memories from time to time make the plot more confusing, but when the truth came out, I regretted the friendship that should not have appeared in this absurd politics.
The first half of the film is carried out in the process of constantly setting up doubts and counter-evidence. The highlight lies in some small details in the performance. Song Kanghao's performance in the mine clearance scene and the post scene is too joyful. The part showing the friendship between the soldiers on both sides is equally realistic and credible. , reflects the compatriotism of the two sides that blood is thicker than water and the simple and innocent side of human nature, which is warm and touching. There are also comedy scenes of spitting at each other on both sides of the security area separated by one meter. The flesh and blood between these compatriots who have slowly grown has laid a good foundation for the outbreak of cruel tragedies in the future.
The turning point of the story comes from Sophie's discovery that a bullet was missing at the crime scene. This doubt can be traced back to the night of the crime, and the scene reproduces the process of killing each other by compatriots. Based on the different beliefs and values of the soldiers of the DPRK and the ROK, they ultimately lead them to draw guns and shoot at each other because of mutual suspicion. In the end, the beginning of all these stories, Lee Soo Hyuk, finally committed suicide out of guilt for his friends and punishment for not being calm.
The story of "Common Guard" is cruel but true and pure. It is a bitter complaint about the situation on the Korean peninsula, deeply regrets the apparent peace, and silently complains that the political position under the influence of ideology has distorted and damaged human nature. . The characters appearing in the ending film are gathered in a black and white photo, and even though they are permanently separated by a one-meter dividing line because of their different positions, their mutual compatriot status and unknown friendship will always be together.
