The whole film is black and white, there is no too tragic background music, and there is no indignant narration. Sebastian only told us the background behind those pictures so slowly. Sebastian uses photos to show us a world that is unfamiliar and familiar to us.

Greed crushes people into ants, and violence turns people into dust. I never thought that death would become a normal part of life, and people gradually got used to death until they became numb. In the Sahel, Ethiopia, scrawny bodies, mountains of corpses. Sebastian has witnessed the lament of life, the tragedy of mankind.
Perhaps this is not the most chilling place. The most uncomfortable is probably the violence under the skin of intellectual civilization. It is no longer greed, violence, and people's crimes that drive the killing of lives, because then people are violence itself.
What impressed me the most was that the eyes of the three children all looked at the camera at the same time. At that time, I couldn't tell whether they were numb or hopeful.

Devastated by humans and abandoned by nature, the wasteland is reborn through the hands of people. Humans are no longer destroyers, but creators. Like atonement, more like forgetting. If the loess covers up, who will know that the foot steps on withered bones, and if it is not recorded, who will know the past. Rebirth is ultimately based on sacrifice, but it is also the end of hope.
