The score is 3 and a half stars, and the film length of more than 2 hours shows the director's ambition. But cheesy routines, long side plots and some plot bugs make this popcorn movie just a good look.
advantage:
Excellent action, shootout screen. No fancy technological means, special effects. A few muscular men, professional shooting scenes are enough to make your adrenaline soar.
The reversal at the end has been foreshadowed in the story. Although the first time I saw it, it was a bit abrupt, but when I watched it the second time, I remembered the face of the person and found a lot of foreshadowing.
shortcoming:
There are a lot of plot bugs in it. If you want to take the suspenseful reversal route, having a bug is as uncomfortable for me as being stuck.
1. The male protagonist (policeman) has already locked the suspect. But how many suspects have been forced to press the road on the street every day, looking for the next target? Even if there is no direct evidence that they were the perpetrators of the donut case, the second time they robbed the bank, they actually watched them walk into the bank with a gun. Although I'm not a student of law, I don't know if walking around in front of the bank with an automatic rifle counts as robbing the bank, but an illegal gun will definitely not be able to run away. In the end, the police fought with the Boss on the street where more than a dozen civilian cars were parked. In reality, the prisoners should rather run than exchange fire in such a place. Of course, I can only say that the film was too realistic, and it brought me into reality. Like in Pacific Rim 2, no civilians died when a city was demolished. . Ha ha
2. The big boss didn't check it when he found the purse in the garbage dump. Big heart.
3. Too much time was spent trying to create the image of the characters, but everything was sloppy and endless (the protagonist’s emotional line, the old black daughter’s boyfriend meets the parents). In the end, I feel that the overall story has become fragmented, and the characters have not become so three-dimensional.
4. The conflict between the hero and the FBI is abrupt. Although this is true in reality, the local police dislike the federation for wearing suits, and the Federal FBI thinks that the local police are helping the hillbillies. But such direct expression in the form of guns and dry frames at the crime scene, and the inexplicable reconciliation at the end, did not help or promote the overall story.
Summarize:
I feel that there is a good script, the tense atmosphere of each segment of the main line, the soundtrack, and the action guidance are all good. But the director wanted to express too much, adding a little more and adding a little bit becomes very procrastinated. It feels that if you cut off all the extra lines and hold it for about 90-120 minutes, it might be better to highlight the strengths and tension of the action scene.
