I saw this movie a few years ago, and I wasn't particularly impressed at the time. I read it again recently, and I actually watched it five or six times in a row, but I couldn't stop, and I wanted to keep watching it again and again.

I went to Amazon to buy the original English novel and read it on kindle. 1. The movie is really very, very loyal to the original novel, and many of the dialogues are the original text in the novel; 2. If I haven’t seen the movie, I might not be interested in the novel at all. When reading novels, I completely think about the appearance of the people in the movies; I read the novels because the male protagonists in the movies are too beautiful and want to know more. 3. Watching movies, the attraction is basically occupied by the appearance of 3 beautiful men. The novel is basically written in Maurice's heart. 4. The movie seems to have 3 male protagonists, the novel is Maurice, Maurice's growth history; 5. In the novel, Clive is smarter and more dominant, Maurice is more real, it is clear why Maurice fell in love with Clive; In the movie, the actors acted really well it is good. With all kinds of emotions on the face, it's strange why James Wilby didn't become a big star? In the novel, Maurice and Alec disappear into the green wood? It's so sad. A dream movie.

One of my favorite movies! I like the subtleties of the British in dealing with feelings.

A beard makes you look respectable. A beard represents pseudo-ethics. This symbol is quite interesting.

Maurice quotes

  • Simcox: Oh dear Sir, mud on the carpet. I'll send someone up.

  • Simcox: A terrible affair about Viscount Risley, Sir. And him a Parliamentary Private Secretary, too. I did read he was at Cambridge.

    [Significant pause]

    Simcox: Like yourself, Sir.

Clive Durham: You will never mention that subject again, Simcox, while you remain in employment here.
