Big and small liar's paper moon

After lying in the film list for a long time, I finally watched "Paper Moon" at the beginning of the month. As the first movie I watched this year, it surprised me.
This black-and-white highway movie from the 1970s has a clear and smooth structure, full and vivid plot, three-dimensional and cute characters, sincere and natural emotions. It is definitely an unpopular film. (In fact, it is not very popular.) The
fake bible sold Moz to attend the funeral of the old lover, and was commissioned to send the lover's daughter Eddie to her aunt's home. On the road, they discovered that the weird Eddie was a born little liar, and the two embarked on a wonderful and exciting road trip.

The precocious and precocious Eddie is probably the originator of "Ferocious Loli", sometimes even older than Moz. They specialize in looking for widows and sell them at a high price "the Bible ordered by their just-departed husband", but in such opportunistic behavior, the screenwriter also added kindness and tenderness. In the face of a wealthy wife, Eddie rushed to offer a sky-high price of $24 before Moz, and when faced with a poor life and a woman who had to raise a lot of children came to open the door, Eddie loudly reminded Moz, "This family paid the money." ", then grabbed the book and stuffed it into the woman's arms, dragging Moz away.

What impressed me the most about the film is that it did not "indulge" the protagonist, and did not set the plot with the idea of "whatever the protagonist does is reasonable and will not be punished". Different from the routine of "the master uses clever tricks to commit crimes in crime movies, he has gone through many thrilling stages and turned the stupid policeman to the pinnacle of his life". Eddie and Moz are smooth sailing at first, a fake father-daughter combination. Swaggering and deceiving, the performance was gratifying, and he gradually became rich, but Moz suspended his Bible career because of a beautiful prostitute. Later, the fake father and daughter stole alcohol and smuggled them to death and made a fortune. At the same time, he got involved in big trouble. In the end, all the money was ransacked by the bad police, Moz was beaten up, and the good car was replaced with a broken car. At this time, the protagonist's aura disappeared, and the growth of the fake father and daughter after many twists and turns, and the true and lovely warmth were highlighted. The bad things are gone, and the good, sincere, and lovely are kept and sublimated. This makes it an excellent road movie. It uses the social outlook of the United States during the Great Depression as a background to depict the protagonist's growth and emotional establishment. It is humorous, vivid, and full of lovely and sincere emotional resonance.

I also particularly like the end of the film. Eddie didn’t want to stay in the warm and cozy aunt’s house. She threatened Moz with "You still owe me 200 dollars" as at the beginning of the journey, and then the two of them chase after her. The broken car slid down the slope and drove to the far side of the highway.

They didn't have a group photo on the paper moon together, but they had a new journey next.

The combination of "When Happiness Comes Knocking" and "The Male and Female Thief", or it can be said that it is a road version of "This Killer Is Not Too Cold".
