Unanswerable question

The old lady said, "Why can't women have fun?" I didn't know how to answer. How similar is this between East and West. From the high coldness of the hero at the beginning to the helplessness in the later period; the heroine from the Cinderella from the beginning to the calm and courageous in the later period. She has transformed. I don't think it is a good thing. Before she died, the old lady said that she would not be happy. And the male protagonist said that the simplicity that he liked her originally was gone. You must know that strong women generally do not have happiness. On this point, the East and the West have once again unified their opinions.

Haven't read or read the original Hitchcock. From this movie alone, classical, romantic, suspenseful and other elements are not done. Lily James looks ugly and stupid, and Hammer is very dumb in everything. The final reveal, puzzle solving and reversal have no impact. But since I haven't read the story, I still read it with gusto.

Oliver, if you stayed in Italy and are still with Elio, then you are so happy. But at the beginning you wanted to go back to be heterosexual. Now you don't seem to be happy after marrying two, so let's go back to Italy according to your heart.

Rebecca quotes

  • [first lines]

Mrs. de Winter: [narrating] Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. I dreamt that where our drive once lay, a dark and tortured jungle grew. Nature had come into her own and yet the house still stood. Manderley. Secretive and silent as it had always been. Risen from the dead. Like all dreamers, I was allowed to pass through my memory. Spanning the years like a bridge. Back to that summer in Monte Carlo when I knew nothing and had no prospects.

  • Mrs. Danvers: Welcome to Manderley.
