This is a typical multi-departmental high-level meeting, from different factions with their own positions. All the participants were well-mannered in suits and leather shoes. The reception/organization of the meeting was of high standard. The snacks, snacks, meals and drinks during the meeting were impeccable. There were occasional lip-services at the meeting, but most of the time everyone spoke elegantly and introverted intonation, interspersed with lively little jokes from time to time. The purpose of the meeting is not really to discuss anything. In fact, the conclusion is set long before the meeting. It is only through the meeting to convey the conclusion to the various departments and show a gesture to prove that this is a resolution passed "unanimously" after collective discussion.
I believe that anyone who has worked in the workplace or the system is very familiar with this kind of conference, but the topic of this conference is quite special: how to finally solve the increasingly serious Jewish problem.
In fact, the essence of this film lies in the self-introduction at the beginning. Only by knowing everyone and understanding each person's position can we understand the meaning of the discussion at the meeting.
Colin Firth, the legal expert Dr. Stukart, is really the most typical German elite in the Nazi genocide. He has no objections to the final eradication of the Jews, and no sympathy for the Jews. He just thinks that the law is the law and must be strictly enforced literally. Regarding the identification of Jewish mixed blood, Heydrich's point of view is that a quarter of a person of Jewish descent is not counted, provided that the person must have no Jewish traces in behavior and thought. Stukart can't stand it anymore. His view is that the law cannot be enforced so much on subjective judgment, it's so imprecise!
When talking about the settlement plan for German-Jewish marriages, what he thought was that the civil courts dealing with divorce would be exhausted. After the Jews were "purged", how would their German spouses deal with them, be they widowed or divorced? How to inherit property? How to deal with social relations. Discuss formalities seriously.
