Two zombie-themed films were released in South Korea during the summer, one is "#活着" starring Liu Yaren and Park Shin-hye, and the other is the sequel to the high-scoring work "Busan Tour 2: Peninsula". The two films wanted to keep up the heat during the epidemic, and took advantage of the summer season to make a big profit at the box office.
However, I never expected that two movies of the same subject matter crashed and then rolled over. Word of mouth was completely destroyed by Waterloo. It didn't even reach the pass line, which really surprised the audience .
After watching the Korean movie "Alive" starring by the powerful Korean actor Yoo Ya-in and idol actress Park Shin-hye, I wonder why this popular zombie movie that is sought after by the audience will soon hit the street? Is it really so unbearable? After the second brush, I didn't think so. There should be no problem with this film passing.
The story of the film mainly tells the outbreak of the virus in Seoul, South Korea due to smog, and then quickly spread to the whole of South Korea. The infected people became bloodthirsty zombies. The male protagonist Wu Junyu, played by Liu Yaren, is a game anchor. He wakes up three poles every day. When he wakes up, he looks at his mobile phone the first thing, and then he asks his brothers to eat chicken.
He was told by his playmates to watch the news on TV, saw warning messages from his mobile phone, heard the residents downstairs fled in a panic, and saw the infected girl mutate and gnawed at his mother. He even saw the little brother next door broke into the house and turned into a zombie before he realized that the end was coming.
Next, the male protagonist survived 15 days without water, food, and electricity. When he finally received a call from his parents, he heard that they and his sister were all attacked by zombies. The news made him completely desperate when he was on the verge of collapse, and finally he decided to hang himself.
Unexpectedly, in the dark, a laser beam from the opposite floor rescued Jun Woo. The heroine Yoo Sugi played by Park Shin Hye used this light of hope to let Jun Woo see hope.
The two helped each other, and they escaped from the group of zombies to the eighth floor in search of vitality. After being rescued by a surviving uncle, he was stunned and turned into human fodder. The uncle wanted to feed them to the wives of zombies.
In the end, the uncle was happily eaten by his wife, and Junyu and You Shan escaped to the rooftop and were successfully rescued from the group of zombies by the rescue team. Junyu received the text message. It turns out that his family members are alive, and the government is doing its best to search and rescue the survivors. The situation has been initially brought under control.
"#活着" This Korean disaster film has a simple plot, and there may be many plots that are not in line with reality, and it feels not rigorous. However, I personally think that the director cleverly used details to highlight the main thrust, and also hinted at some of our problems in the real society through the character and life of the characters.
"Captive" crowd
The daily life of the male protagonist and his performance in the face of disasters, the director is satirizing the crowd who are used to being "captive". Living in the comfort zone for too long has no sense of crisis, and gradually loses the ability to survive, and even the IQ will deteriorate. After the disaster strikes, it seems that it has nothing to do with me, but the first person who can't hold on, will be the first to despair.
On the other hand, the heroine is more like a survival home, with a tent set up in the room and defensive traps at the door of the room. There is plenty of food, regular fixed-point work and rest, and even use binoculars to observe everywhere in search of opportunities to escape. In fact, there is a sharp contrast between the male and female protagonists, which makes the irony even stronger.
Let’s talk about the commercials on TV. Disaster is coming. There are no survival guides and no escape tips on TV. There are actually all kinds of advertisements that don’t take the disaster seriously.
The root of despair
The virus broke out in a zombie besieged city, what is it that makes people desperate? From "I Am A Legend" to "Darkness Swallows the World" to "#活着", these three zombie-themed film stories are set so similar in background. There will be similar themes behind the same story.
In the movie, there is a plaque hanging in Junyu's home, which says "Safety, Ping, Kang Ning". The whole story is set at home, and whenever Junyu goes out to find food, avoiding zombies will return home again. After hearing that his family was attacked by zombies, he was so desperate to hang himself.
When the male protagonist Junyu used AI eyes and drones to observe the community, every family member in the camera became a zombie. When Junyu went to the neighbor’s house to search for food, the camera showed a photo frame. From the photo frame, we learned that two brothers who love rock climbing live here. There is also a paralyzed woman who has been bitten on the bed.
Finally, from the photo frame of the uncle survivor’s house, it was learned that they were a family of three. Although the wife had become a zombie, he could feed his wife a living person for the sake of his wife’s survival. This kind of alternative love is also the only motivation to live.
Under the scrutiny of the camera, the director is emphasizing the importance of family members, but the loneliness after losing a loved one becomes the source of despair.
Death can be contagious, alive can be contagious
The male protagonist saw that the survivors in the circle posted pictures to encourage each other, and frustrated, he deleted the negative energy words and released the photos he took under the topic of "alive". The surrounding environment and the influence of people sometimes seem insignificant, but life and death are also determined at critical moments.
The heroine's laser beams made the desperate hero see hope, and when he learned that someone was still alive, it inspired him to live. Death can be contagious, while alive can be contagious. Spreading positive energy and spreading negative energy are two completely different results.
Perception
Many viewers watched the movie with great expectations, some were directed at Liu Yaren and others were directed at Park Shin Hye. After watching it, some viewers may feel that time is wasted, they may feel that they are vain, and they may feel disappointed.
It is true that this film is not very good, especially for those who pay attention to logic, but I personally feel that the whole film is remarkable and can reach a passing level.
