A unique Harvey Weinstein Movie

I hurriedly read the short review, and everyone originally had such a big deviation in understanding the true theme of this film. The label of this film is Harvey Weinstein movie. It does not simply talk about working spirits, social animals, and workplace novices, but a very unique perspective on the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault case. It focuses on his personal assistant, but this assistant is not his type, and focuses on the time of the day (an incredibly long day for entry-level staff), and it is the assistant who pieced together Weinstein's sexual assault. The day of evidence. From this perspective, the film must be linked to the real case reflected, otherwise the understanding of it will be completely superficial or biased.

In terms of photography, the overall color tone is very cold, and it is extremely scary to think later. A large number of face close-ups and overhead shots highlight the protagonist’s sense of isolation and helplessness. In terms of sound processing, the protagonist's voice is also faint and almost submerged.

The climax of the film is undoubtedly the dialogue between Jane and HR. From consideration to suppression to criticism, the audience also has to consider how Jane should choose, or whether she has a choice. The dream of that unreachable producer is not worth the humble emails of apology and the condemnation of conscience.

When I watched it, I wondered, would it be better if Jane and two male assistants went to have dinner? Will she get some support? Still feel that everyone knows it but tacitly makes it even more disillusioned? The answer seems to be the latter.

The Assistant quotes

  • Wilcock: I don't think you have anything to worry about.

    Jane: Hmm?

    Wilcock: You're not his type.

  • Boss: [Over the phone] I'm not gonna yell at you. Am I yelling? No... Because you're not someone even worthy of that. Because you didn't even have the fucking courtesy to talk to me about whatever the fuck fantasy you decided to spew all over me... So, let me ask, do you want to keep this job?

    Jane: Yeah.

Boss: Okay... Then send me a fucking apology.
