I like this movie, and I like the humanistic temperament of European movies. I haven't read this book, but I like to leave room, which is different from the end of the original book. An old English teacher got on the train to Lisbon due to an accident and explored the vigorous short life of the author of a book. After that, his boring life seemed to have a new opportunity for change before dusk. The film ends with a question from the female optician: "Why don't you stay?" A blank space filled with green hope. However, I couldn't help thinking of "Covered Bridge Last Dream".
The two seemingly unrelated films actually try to elaborate propositions about choice. Love or revolution are just coats. When the photographer almost prayed to go far and high, she refused. As a result, there are only last dreams. Love or self disappeared with tears on that rainy day. The same situation seems to have appeared in front of Gregorys. After verifying the legendary life of the author of that book, Gregorys should give some improvement to the lifeless life. It is worth mentioning that, as a self-sacrificing English teacher, he travels desperately and stays in Lisbon, ignoring the phone number of the superintendent. He is already trying other trajectories.
Why not let "if" come true? ! After all, there is no dress rehearsal in life, and other ways of living have always existed.
