One: Two brothers were chased and killed by the undead.
Two: The jazz band strayed into a cult ceremony.
Three: Rescue the girl who was hit.
Four: The brother looked for the missing sister.
Five: A family of three was killed.
These five seemingly unrelated stories. But they are connected to each other, and jointly express a theme-atonement.
The first is connected to the fifth, and it was the two brothers who had killed a family of three. Through the plot, it can be speculated that the fatter daughter of the brothers was killed, and it was the father of a family of three who hurt her. They came for revenge. Just when the father thought of his crimes when he was kidnapped, he hoped that they could spare his family, but the revenge team killed the innocent wife and daughter together, so they summoned the undead and hunted them down. After being trapped in a gas station for infinite reincarnation, the fat man realized his fault and didn't want to run away and faced it head-on; but the thin man was persevering and still had no intention of repentance, and was killed by the undead. The fat man entered the hotel but led to his revenge home, where his daughter's figure and voice kept appearing, but he would never see it. This is his punishment. His atonement can only see the shadow, but he can never see each other.
The second and third stories are not very closely related and relatively independent, but the jazz band members are three girls, and it is one of the three who was knocked down.
The story starts with the three girls driving on a trip. They have a puncture in the middle of the journey, but they encounter a "good-hearted person" to help them. They are asked to stay at home temporarily and fall into a trap. The so-called "good-hearted person" is a kind of cult. They perform ancient rituals to control the two. Girls lost their freedom, and one escaped and was hit by a car.
Then why did they have this experience? Is it also an atonement, or is it speculated from the plot that the band originally had four members, one of whom may have died because of the other three, and being a "goodhearted person" at home suggests that you are the other one everywhere. Where the member is, the girl shows a nervous miracle, so she still atones for her sins.
The third story is a special test to test the good and evil in the heart, meaning that if the evil is not manifested, it must be redeemed. The protagonist accidentally ran into the girl who had escaped from the cult. After being hit, the girl was dying. He could have left as soon as nothing happened, but he chose to rescue, relying on anonymous instructions on the phone to rescue step by step. The ordinary people couldn’t bear things, but in the end the girl left; he also broke down in his heart, annoyed by his own fault, and thought he was guilty. When he realized that he was not at fault, the anonymous phone rang again and instructed him to get new clothes and cars, everything It's as if it never happened. Therefore, those who are not guilty can leave.
The fourth story reveals everything. This road and town do not exist in reality, but a concentration camp for atonement. For example, there is no such place on GPS, and the road is also an unnamed road.
The story is about the elder brother struggling to find his younger sister. The younger sister made atonement for killing his parents, but the elder brother found a place that didn't exist, but was left here because of his extreme practice.
Just like the beginning of the film said, "Regret and self-blame, make up and redeem, this is life, right?" A way of atonement is to leave the guilty and the innocent to leave. Repeatedly experiencing pain, loss of freedom, painful death, seeing and separating relatives...Various ways of atonement constitute this real hell on earth.
The transition of the film story is natural and smooth, giving the audience a strong sense of involvement, and will not feel the abrupt transition between the story and the story, let alone the development of the plot; the soundtrack is also just right. It can be said to be a successful horror drama, it is worth watching, to savor the meaning and intriguing.
All the way to the south, all the way to atonement.
