The Nikopol Trilogy is the most representative classic work in Enki Bilal's creative career. It is not only Bilal's first attempt to write a script by himself, but also a turning point for his personal style of painting to mature. The movie "Immortal" he directed in 2004 shows how much he loves this story. Bilal combines the two stories of "Chaos of Gods" and "Women's Trap", turning the flat cartoon into a wonderful 3D Animation and live action.

The first part: the chaos of the gods; the second part: the trap of women; the third part: the cold equator

Reality plus 3D CG, many supporting characters and dragon sets come from 3D animation, this is the first time I have seen this form. The plot seems to have nothing to say, a god sentenced to death takes care of his own funeral: possessing a man to rape a strange woman (non-human) who can be a god, the purpose is to make that woman give birth to a god...囧. The protagonist looks familiar. It should be the German officer in "The Pianist". He can't remember where he has seen him.

How to say, I feel that the film is still a bit inexplicable, maybe it would be better to read the comics, but overall I like it

Immortal quotes

  • Nikopol: [Nikopol falls into the bed, lying there, and recites] Ceaselessly by my side moves the Demon. He swims around me like impalpable air. I swallow and feel it burn my lungs. And fill them with eternal desire and guilt.

  • Jill Bioskop: I should have shot you when I first met you.

    Nikopol: There's still time.
