Guess the secret behind the words

I like the first half of the story very much, like a prose poem, or a melancholic minor, making you always guess what the secret behind the text is. The fragmentary footage, the confined environment on the drilling platform, and the cheerful music that appear from time to time all perfectly conceal the silent secret of the heroine. The plot of the story is advancing calmly, and you are ready to meet the secret spirit. But this secret is still too sensational, so that it completely breaks the good lyrical atmosphere created by the first half. I personally think that the director sacrificed the beauty of the whole story for the sake of sensationalism, and I hope that this secret will always be hinted and not explained. As the name of the movie says, this is a secret. Once the secret is revealed, the audience's interest will decline. And the second half involves more humanitarian and critical preaching, and ends with a standard love scene. It feels like anticlimactic.
The drama on the drilling platform is quite exciting, and several supporting roles have excellent performances. It makes you feel that the isolated world can heal the pain of the soul better.

The Secret Life of Words quotes

  • Victor: He doesn't like to be with the others. He's a loner, too.

Hanna: There are many of us.

  • Josef: I thought um, you and I, maybe we could go away somewhere. Together. One of these days. Today. Right now. Come with me.

Hanna: No, I don't think that's going to be possible.

    Josef: Why not?

Hanna: Um, because I think that if we go away to someplace together, I'm afraid that, ah, one day, maybe not today, maybe, maybe not tomorrow either, but one day suddenly, I may begin to cry and cry so very much that nothing or nobody can stop me and the tears will fill the room and I won't be able to breath and I will pull you down with me and we'll both drown.

Josef: I'll learn how to swim, Hanna. I swear, I'll learn how to swim.
