Adapted from the fairy tale "Pinocchio" by Carlo Collodi. It tells the story of Pinocchio's transformation from a willful, mischievous, lie, playful and learning puppet to a good polite boy.

The old man Gopetto carved a piece of wood that could cry and laugh into a puppet. He regarded the little puppet who had taken his life as his son, and named the puppet Pinocchio. Goppetto sold his coat in exchange for textbooks for Pinocchio to study. But Pinocchio was so eager to play, he would not hesitate to sell his textbooks in order to watch the puppet show.

Pinocchio was caught by the circus giant leader in the puppet troupe. Pinocchio was almost thrown into the fire by the giant leader of the puppet circus to be used as firewood to cook lamb. He listened to the advice of the friendly clown. When sneezing, he kept mentioning that his poor father was sensational, and kissed the head of the giant. The head of the giant was moved to tears and gave him gold coins the next morning to let him go home.

When he was chased by two greedy villains for exposing money and was dying at the line of life and death, a little fairy in the forest rescued him and gave him great care. The two played together in the castle and waited for Pinocchio to recover. , The fairy asked him to continue his father-finding journey, but the fox and cat deceived the gold coins on the way. When he was caught in a ridiculous court by mistake, and was about to be tried and imprisoned by the Monkey Judge for being "innocent", he wittyly fabricated his experience of "stealing and kidnapping" and was released.

When I got home, I found that my father was not there. It turned out that my father was looking for him. He was washed ashore on the sea looking for his father. He was rescued by the little fairy again, and the little fairy had grown up.

Soon after, under the guidance of the fairy, Pinocchio wanted to be a good boy who studied hard, but he couldn't stand the temptation. At the instigation of bad classmates, he was lured to the country of play. After playing frantically for a period of time, Pinocchio became a lazy and stupid donkey. The fairy is sad because Pinocchio’s playfulness missed the opportunity to become a real person

He was put in a circus performance. Because the performance failed, he was thrown into the sea. In the sea, Pinocchio changed back to his original appearance. Later, Pinocchio was swallowed by a shark and miraculously found what he was thinking about day and night. Dad, find a way to leave after the reunion. Unfortunately, even if he can get out of the mouth of the fish, Dad can’t swim. Pinocchio gave his father the confidence to make him believe that he could take him ashore. He really did it.

For his father, Pinocchio helped others to herd the sheep and used a small body to drive the pumping machine. Gradually this little boy is growing up!

The last time I saw a fairy was when Pinocchio became a real child, the moment he woke up to find that he became a real person. Pinocchio couldn't wait to let his father know that this little boy might never see a fairy again. He was accompanied by only a poor, old father who loved him. The little boy retained his kindness, and lived bravely and wittyly in the human world.

Quite faithful to the adaptation of the original. The characters are lovable, from the muddy reality to the dark atmosphere, the fairy tale color is getting stronger, the makeup and art are good, although it is a little low, but the childlike innocence in the cruel style is more moving.

#Berlinale20-26 Three and a half stars. Very close to the original. Compared with a Disney-style film based on a real-life fairy tale with a strong plastic flavor, there are no advanced special effects, but the characters are smart and cute, the details are sincere and warm, and the imagination is rich. Disney may wish to consider Italian directors.
