Thick black

When I returned to China this time, I bought a collection of Kurosawa Akira's movies in the bookstore. The original intention was to spend a few book coupons. The second intention is that I really want to systematically take a good look at the master's movies. Make up for the narrow mindset of watching Hollywood handsome and beautiful women when I was young.

Yesterday, I stuck my nose and picked one up and read it. Because I saw it with English subtitles, I only remembered the pronunciation of the Japanese name. the bad smell well, sweet dreams of wicked people. It's still a combination of Mifune and Senya. Two and a half hours of movie, I didn't doze off. The more you watch, the more exciting it is. The final ending made me feel depressed again.

A good movie, the story and the theme are profound. In 1960. 50 years have passed. Social criticism is still so clear.

Many parts of the story are not new. But there is no tension in the combination. Here is the cleverness of the master.

In a society lacking legal protection, in an era where corrupt officials and officials are rampant, evil is used to resist evil, but in the end, it is hard to destroy because of a little goodness and die.

It turns out that we still too underestimated the wicked's thickness and conscience. We thought that they would repent and rehabilitate, but it was just wishful thinking. We thought that we were about to succeed if we held high the banner of justice, and we didn't know that it was ourselves who died in the end.

Kurosawa adapted Hamlet and continued to watch Japan's post-war reality. The process/outcome of justice and the setting of roles are the opposite of "Heaven and Hell"; the description of the roles of civil servants can be compared with "The Desire of Life" (his lines are not too classic for humans). The first half of the hidden identity revenge process is fascinating. The drama and the director's sound and picture skills are as exciting as "Heaven and Hell". From the opening wedding scene, it reaches its climax and rushes to the top at the Hotan funeral. In the second half, it turned to a grim attack on reality, the entangled thinking of violence against violence and moral ethics, and finally ended in a silent tragedy.

The photography is almost perfect. I thought "Wild Dogs" had reached its peak, but from the beginning to the end, almost every shot of this movie was extremely beautiful. It is said that Akira Kurosawa studied Hollywood, but there is no Hollywood three-shot method in Akira Kurosawa's movies. The scene scheduling and lighting are completely emotional. The sound processing is very solid, and it's all on the rhythm point, not procrastinating, not rushing, and in place.

The Bad Sleep Well quotes

  • Koichi Nishi: You've become a real lapdog, haven't you? You'd kill yourself just because Moriyama and Shirai told you to. Those masters you so loyally serve are celebrating even now. To Iwabuchi, Moriyama and Shirai, you're just a nuisance, a walking liability they want to be rid of. But listen to me: Cattle and swine die kinder deaths!

  • Public Corporation Vice President Iwabuchi: What drove these two men to their deaths? Why don't you ask the prosecutor's office for the truth?
