Autumn of 1979, outing. Young Jin Yonghao stopped beside a small white wild flower, and Yin Shunren in a white dress walked up to him. Yonghao said that he hoped to have a camera to take pictures of these beautiful flowers, and Shunren silently kept his wish in his heart. Sitting around the small river, a group of young people carefreely sang a love song that should have been sad, singing brightly and happily, with bright sunshine on their faces.
Summer 1980. Shun Ren traveled all the way to the military camp to visit Yonghao, but was turned away. When the Gwangju Incident broke out, Yonghao’s unit went to suppress the student movement. When packing his luggage, he was scolded and pushed and shoved by his superiors. When Shunren was writing a letter, the mints he sent were scattered on the ground, and he was roughly trampled by a pair of big feet. Beside a train, Yonghao, who was injured in the leg, wanted to save a girl, but accidentally shot her and killed her.
Summer 1984. Yonghao became a policeman. He limped with a leg injured during the crackdown, making it difficult to walk. He is not used to torture prisoners like his colleagues, and he doesn't like his colleagues wiping oil on little girls in small restaurants. ShunRen came to him specially to give him a camera, but he refused—by the way, he rejected his first love, a beautiful and gentle girl.
year 1987. His wife's big belly is about to give birth, and Yonghao is indifferent. Tortured prisoners at the police station, he started ruthlessly, and finally asked the answer he wanted. I went to Gunsan with my colleagues to handle the case, which is the hometown of my first love girlfriend. On a rainy night, he came to a small restaurant and met a little girl who was curious about him. He said that he wanted to walk the same path as his first love, to see the sea she had seen, and the rain she was drenched in. "The rain I saw, she was watching too." Such a literary confession is similar to the one he tortured prisoners before. Words and deeds are really split.
year 1994. Yong Hao is a good businessman. While beating his wife's cheating lover, he has an extramarital affair with a young girl in the office. When he moved to the new house, his colleagues came to congratulate him, but he brutally kicked the cute puppy at home in front of everyone and almost quarreled with his wife. When his wife was praying before the meal, he burst into tears, but he walked away with extreme sympathy.
Spring 1999. Yonghao experienced the stock market crash, his friends cheated, his family went bankrupt, his wife and children were separated, and he was destitute and penniless. He used the last of his money to buy a pistol, intending to end his life, but failed to pull the trigger. The husband who was in office came to him and took him to see his dying wife. He bought a can of mints and burst into tears in front of the hospital bed.
Three days later, Yonghao also went to the 20-year gathering of the employees of the Jiali Bee Factory. On a supposedly joyous occasion, he sang the sad love songs that everyone happily sang 20 years ago, running around the river in despair, crying, and then crawling on the railroad tracks, crying heart-rendingly, "I want to go back" . Finally, a train came towards him...
Men in Korean movies are often infatuated with absolute infatuation and tenderness, just like Kim Yong-ho's most touching moment in that mountain tavern. But in this film, the rubbing of the hand of fate has made his heart ruthless, making him vulgar, greasy, chilling, and abhorrent. In fact, the real face of more men in life is like this, so women are obsessed with the men in the film and rely on them to support their dull life.
Of course, this film has richer connotations and implications, but what I feel most deeply is human nature itself. An accident certainly makes people doubt self-doubt about life, and the powerful coercive forces outside can make people fall into a straight line, but not everyone has to take this road. People with a strong heart and a kind-hearted nature can choose another better one. road.
The rails stretch out into the distance again and again, and the key nodes on the road of life are not beyond their control at all. I don't want Kim Yong-ho to live in high spirits, or Lee Chang-dong to tell an inspirational story. That's how Kim Yong-ho's life is. For another person, there may be another way of living and another story to be told.
