I look forward to...

I finally finished watching it, and to be honest, the pacing of the whole movie is very slow, and the editing of flashbacks made it difficult for me to calm down at first. But after watching the whole film, I thought of a song, "I Look Forward to" by Zhang Yusheng.
The terrible Gwangju incident in Korean history and the trampling of humanity in the military have driven the hero farther and farther from his original dreams and innocence.
At the beginning of the film, the male protagonist shouts that I want to go back, as if reflecting the lyrics "I look forward to, one day I will go back, return to my original love, return to innocence". After experiencing the turmoil of history and inner shock, the male protagonist gradually loses himself, and there is no purpose and meaningless. In the film, the male protagonist always asks others "Is life beautiful?" This is the male protagonist's questions and doubts about life. When justice is subverted and human nature is trampled on, will we still believe that life is beautiful? It is very interesting that even when we are in a difficult situation, people are always willing to believe that life is beautiful, even though this beauty is not in us blooming on the body. This seems to be a very deep philosophical question.

Peppermint Candy quotes

  • Yongho: Do you think life's beautiful?

  • Yongho: I don't want to die alone. I need one bastard to come with me. Just one bastard among all that ruined my life. But then... Who should I kill? It gives me hard time, you know. To pick just one is hard thing to do. The fucking stock broker who made me go clean broke? The vampire like loan shark that charged the ridiculous interest? Or... how about the business partner who run away with my money? Or should I take my ex-wife and my kid to die with me? There're so many fuckers in my life that it's hard to pick just one.
