"What is harder than death is forgiveness, because it takes a lifetime to forget the pain", not even enough.

Number seven score: 7.57

Synopsis

A female body was found on the bank of Jiangkou River. The body was cruelly cut into several pieces. Anatomy professor Jiang Minhao (Xue Jingqiu) was assigned as a forensic doctor to take up the case.

Jiang Minhao has a daughter who lives abroad and is about to return to China. He decided to quit his job after completing the case and live with her daughter.

The deceased Wu Enya was a bar lady. The cause of death was a hard blow to the head. Through clues on the corpse, Jiang Minhao discovered that the deceased was killed, mutilated, and thrown in three different places.

Young police detective Min Ruiying (played by Han Huizhen) found that the three locations were related to an environmental protection organization through reasoning and analysis. The police initially identified the suspect as the leader of the environmental organization, Li Shenghao (played by Liu Shengfan).

In his book, Li Shenghao once compared the river to Venus, and the government built a dam to cut Venus off, which seems to be the meaning of dismembering the body.

The footprints on the bank of the river are deep and shallow, which also fits the characteristics of Li Shenghao's leg disability. The police decided to take him back to the police station for interrogation. Unexpectedly, Li Shenghao directly admitted that he was the murderer.

The case went smoothly, but Jiang Minhao on the other side was distraught. His daughter, who should have returned home today, has not been whereabouts.

An unfamiliar man appeared beside him waiting anxiously at the airport, and the man handed him a file, claiming that it was Li Shenghao's confession.

After Jiang Minhao opened the folder, he was shocked. It was the last thing he didn't want to see: the photo of his daughter being kidnapped. But when he reacted, when he turned around and wanted to look for the strange man who sent the message, he was nowhere to be seen.

At this time, Min Ruiying called him and told him that Li Shenghao had admitted that he was the murderer. Jiang Minhao drove to the police station quickly, and he asked Li Shenghao to inquire about it.

As a forensic doctor, Jiang Minhao can come and go freely in the police station. He went directly to the interrogation room to question Li Shenghao, wanting to know the whereabouts of his daughter.

Li Shenghao looked calm. He seemed to have known Jiang Minho would come. He told Jiang Minho that he had to help him get rid of crime in order to see his daughter.

Jiang Minhao learned that the police had found the weapon to dismember Wu Enya, and knew that in order for Li Shenghao to get rid of crime, he had to manipulate key exhibits.

After he rushed home, he cut his own pet dog with a scalpel and took the dog blood to the police station to find a chance to replace it with the murder weapon.

Jiang Minhao knew that doing so had violated the law, but he could not take care of a lot for the sake of his daughter, but what he did not expect was that the challenges waiting for him were far more than that. Why did Li Shenghao set up the situation? ...

Film Analysis

After the baptism of "Old Boy", I have gained a certain degree of immunity to the perverted plots of Korean movies, but the impact brought by the end of the film is even worse. The cruelty and despair are like a mouthful of phlegm stuck in my throat. It is extremely uncomfortable to swallow and vomit.

The story presented in the film is very complete, some of the details are breathtaking, but the shortcomings are also very obvious. The director set up a lot of camera shake to create the audience's rush and tension. This setting greatly affects the viewing experience, and A lot of halo effects are also very abrupt when put together, and I don't like this kind of processing.

The script concept of the film is commendable, and the ending is surprisingly top-notch. While shaking out this big burden, logical loopholes have also emerged. This is probably the reason why the film has not reached a certain height. Fish and bear's paw can't have both. The director chose unexpectedly. The advantage may be that people who have watched this movie will hardly forget it.

I have seen many roles played by Xue Jingqiu. As a "professional father", he can give people a different feeling every time. The bursting performance at the end reminds me of Cui Minzhi in "Old Boy" and "Memories of Murder". Song Kanghao, their existence makes the reputation of the film even further.

South Korean crime suspense films often complain about the incompetence of the police and the backwardness of the judicial system, and this movie is no exception. If "Memories of Murder" presents amateurs and "Montage" presents sloppyness, then "Unforgivable" presents more incompetence.

Except for Min Ruiying, played by the heroine Han Huizhen, who is a clear stream, the rest of the police are almost the incarnation of mental retardation. Almost all the key clues to the case in the film were found by Min Ruiying, and she was also the first to find the truth. On the other hand, the other policemen were not as good as a newcomer, but were played by criminals between the palms of their hands. The critical moment at the end also appeared late. , Makes people angry but helpless.

Because of this, some of the so-called BUGs in the film also made me wonder whether this could also be caused by the director deliberately, magnifying loopholes in the judicial system to satirize the current environment.

What is the cause of all these tragedies? It is not an individual, but the current social situation at that time. This is not only unique to South Korea. I believe that every country has this series of problems. 10 years ago, were there few things for the rich to get rid of crime? And it is the precedent for exoneration that will be followed by unscrupulous and will lead to a series of tragedies that follow.

This also leads to the theme of the film: unforgivable. In the social environment at the time, everyone made mistakes, but before making mistakes, can you put yourself in your place and think about others? If everyone thinks in an empathy, society will be more harmonious. Otherwise, the mistakes you made will fail. To forgive, the unforgivable person will be you.

Selected lines

Everyone makes mistakes, but who would think that the mistakes once made may become the pain of a lifetime. Think more empathically and create a harmonious society.
