Professor John Hyde, played by Viggo, is a purely scholar. He never expected that his academic achievements would be used by the Nazis to promote genocide. But John is not such a pure and noble person. He regards the female student as his lover and then becomes his wife. He still ignores his sick mother, and his plea for friends is only vague... But
no matter what. Nor can it be believed that the Nazis would really genocide the Jews until they peeked a telegram. He hurriedly bought a train ticket to Paris for his Jewish friend, but it was too late, and what his wife had done gave him a heavy blow.
Looking at the posture of this film, it is a bit of "Mephiste", but it is far from that depth. It's that the frequent singing scenes are a bit interesting. Although I don't understand what they are singing, I believe that the song is definitely very important to Hyde. The appearance of these fantasy scenes also adds a bit of mystery to the film.
In short, the film is generally good. What's important is that Viggo looks very young and handsome here! When the subtitle version comes out, I will watch it again carefully, ha ha
