I still prefer "Fighter", but the skill of directing stories is indeed strong

Still prefer The Fighter in term of my favorite among David Russell's directorial efforts, but he definitely knows how to tell a family drama, and his delicate touch is what elevated this above a regular rom-com. Both Lawrence and Cooper are terrific and deserve Oscar nominations, although the fact that Lawrence is the current frontrunner for the win is more indicative of a weak year for the Best Actress field. I'll still be very happy for her as she has grown into one of my favorite young actresses with her last few performances.

The films are warm and healing, but the popular stories are not made in clichés. The drama conflicts are set appropriately, the climax is repeated, it is laughable, and even the soundtrack is full of joy. Both Cooper and Lawrence gave their most breakthrough performances. I love this movie!
