Ice and Blood Storm 1996

The Coen brothers’ films have a feature that is similar to Quentin’s approach, but slightly different. Compared to Quentin's narrative in "Pulp Fiction," the Coen brothers' approach is more like the integration of the prosaic into the prosaic, and it is of course the same technique in the "Drunk Country Folk Songs" movie.

Compared to Hollywood commercial films, the Coen brothers are actually Quentin Tarantino on the other side of the mirror. Since Quentin's debut, none of the films he has filmed is the same, and each film has different characteristics, whether it is the theme or the method of storytelling. The Coen brothers’ films sometimes seem completely opposite to Quentin’s literary works. The film is boring and usually not good, in my opinion, only the level of blood can be compared with Quentin. But the two of them were able to use a documentary narrative to make such a film with an unusually bloody theme. In Hollywood, this can be said to be routine, or it can be said to be extraordinary. It is customary that movies of the genre such as "Golden Zodiac" have the same technique and the same effect as Ice and Blood, except that David Fincher pays more attention to the faint sense of fear brought by serial killers. The Coen brothers pay more attention to plain stories and focused narration. It is hard to imagine a talented director who still produces a series of consistent styles 18 years later. The style is surprisingly consistent. What's a little lacking is that the actors' acting skills are a bit flamboyant.

Whether human nature is inherently cruel, whether the animal instinct of human beings transcends civilization and reason, good and evil will eventually return to the heavens and reincarnation, I think this is the subject that the director wants to discuss in "Ice and Blood Storm", the cruel incidents are relatively plain There are times in life that are just some embellishments, and they won't even make people notice. What I care more about than this is the accent of the character in the film, YEAH? One sentence YEAH! One sentence quickly drove me crazy. After watching the movie, I only thought of pouring out the YEAH in my head in front of the sink.

To be fair, if the film itself is used to tell the story, I think the Coen brothers must be the best in the industry, not one of them.

No amount of death can stop me from wanting to laugh. Life is always one step faster than movies: that's why it's black humor.

In the works of the Coen brothers, accidents are the main theme of life. The husband asks for money and plots to kidnap his wife; the father-in-law loves money and thinks he is tough, but he was killed by the robbers; the short man wanted to embezzle the money and was hacked to death by his accomplices; the tall man was speechless all the way, so he shot his gun when he saw someone, and finally fell into the woman. In the hands of the police; the policewoman thought that the Japanese were pursuing him, she was insane. The crime plot is mixed with life jokes, and everyone's seriousness becomes more stupid.

Fargo quotes

  • [repeated line]

Wade Gustafson: No Jean, no money!

  • Irate Customer: We sat right here, in this room, and went over this and over this.

Jerry Lundegaard: Yeah, but that TruCoat...

Irate Customer: I sat right here and said I didn't want any TruCoat.

Jerry Lundegaard: Yeah, but I'm saying that TruCoat. You don't get it, you get oxidation problems. It'll cost you a heck of a lot more than $500.

Irate Customer: You're sitting there. You're talking in circles. You're talking like we didn't go over this already.

Jerry Lundegaard: Yeah, but this TruCoat...

Irate Customer: We had a deal here for nineteen-five. You sat there and darned if you didn't tell me you'd get me this car, these options, without the sealant for nineteen-five.

Jerry Lundegaard: All right, I'm not saying I didn't...

Irate Customer: You called me 20 minutes ago and said you had it ready to make delivery! You says, "Come on down and get it." And, and, and here you are and you're wasting my time and my wife's time, and I'm paying nineteen-five for this vehicle here!

Jerry Lundegaard: All right. I'll talk to my boss.

[gets up and turns before leaving]

Jerry Lundegaard: See, they install that TruCoat at the factory. There's nothing we can do about that.

    [Customer ready to shout]

Jerry Lundegaard: but I'll talk to my boss.

Irate Customer: These guys here. These guys. It's always the same! It's always more!
