For decades, the United States has been the main supporter of King Pahlavi of Iran. In 1953, the reformist Mossadeh was elected as the prime minister of Iran. Samotai supports the nationalization of oil fields, which has seriously damaged the interests of Western countries. So in 1956 the United States helped King Pahlavi and the conservatives to launch the White Revolution to overthrow Mossadeh. However, King Pahlavi and his confidants were rich in their own pockets, living extravagantly, and the people in the country were very angry, and finally the Iranian revolution broke out. The rebellious Pahlavi went into exile in the United States, which aroused the dissatisfaction of the Iranian people.
After the movement ended, the clergy represented by Khomeini took charge of the power. Khomeini promoted the US government as "Satan", the "enemy of Islam," and called on the Iranian people to demonstrate to the United States. On November 4, 1979, nearly 4,000 people gathered at the gate of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, the capital of Iran, to protest. The protesters occupied the American Embassy, detained 52 American diplomats, and demanded that the United States surrender Pahlavi's hostages.
