Unexpected ending

It seems to be a very plain story. A middle-aged woman who was divorced and lives alone with her son. After losing her beloved daughter, she refused to ask the police to give herself an explanation. When she saw three billboards, she thought of a good way to use the billboards to pressure the police chief. During this process, she was under various pressures. The Director was not a bad person, and there was not much time left for terminally ill. His colleagues couldn't bear the hostess's behavior towards the Director and kept asking her for trouble. When the flames of anger engulfed the hostess, she set fire to the police station, but unexpectedly injured the former policeman who opposed her. I really found the murderer in the end, as in many stories, because the murderer showed off his self-exposure in the bar, but it turned out not to be. So the two opponents walked together and wanted to judge the person who committed the same evil for justice, but in the end, no one knew whether they would really kill him.
Warmth and kindness always come unexpectedly

Mildred was dazzled by anger, lost his judgment, and arguing with his daughter indirectly caused tragedy; Dixon was blinded by hatred, lowered his wisdom, and hurt Ryder. Later, Mildred put aside his paranoia and reached a settlement with his ex-husband; Dixon put away his anger and shook hands with Ryder. All this stems from anger and hatred, and ends with great love and kindness. Because "Hate has never been able to solve problems, but love can solve problems."

In fact, the background color is still a fairy tale. But what is a good script: every step is unexpected and reasonable; the plot is not rigid, no matter how small a character, no matter how small the scene, there are credible behaviors and reasonable motives. Martin MacDonald has always been good at portraying small characters in groups, and the actors collectively surrendered perfect acting skills. The lines are refined without a single word. The plot affects emotions in seconds, joy and sadness, making you laugh and cry. Tears. Personal best of the year.

Mildred Hayes: [walking into his office] You Red Welby?

Red Welby: Yes, ma'am. How may I help you?

Mildred Hayes: I heard there's three billboards out on Drinkwater Road. You're in charge of renting them out, that right?

Red Welby: I didn't know we had any billboards out on Drinkwater. Where is Drinkwater Road?

Mildred Hayes: It's a road out past the Sizemore turn-off. Nobody uses it since the freeway got put in.

Red Welby: You are right. Got three billboards out there. Nobody's put nothing up out there since 1986. That was 'Huggies'.

Mildred Hayes: How much to rent out all three of 'em the year?

Red Welby: A year? You wanna pay for three billboards on a road no-one goes down unless they got lost or they're retards, for a year?

Mildred Hayes: Quick, ain't ya, Welby?

Red Welby: Well, since what I say goes these days down at the Ebbing Advertising Desk, I'm gonna strike you a real good deal on those billboards. Now, what was it you said your name was, Mrs?

Mildred Hayes: What's the law on what you can and cannot say on a billboard? I assume it's ya can't say nothing defamatory, and ya can't say, 'Fuck' 'Piss' or 'Cunt'. That right?

    Red Welby: Uh... Or... anus.

Mildred Hayes: Well, I think I'll be alright then. Here's 5,000 for the first month.
