Yet another movie with Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter! I went into "Corpse Bride" expecting nothing less of "The Nightmare Before Christmas". But in the end, I have to admit that I came out a bit disappointed.

This is a story of the son of a fish merchant, Victor. He has been set up to marry a Lord's daughter, Victoria, whom he has never met. Lots of mishaps happened, and before the wedding could take place, an accident happened. He mistakenly married a corpse bride, and was whisked away to the underworld of the dead.

As with any Tim Burton movie, this one is filled with darkness, strange creatures and fantastic visuals. I especially liked the way he portrayed the two worlds, living and dead. The living world is so bland that it's almost black and white, while the world of the dead is extremely rich and colorful. That should tell you where Burton's passion lies. :)

So why am I disappointed? First of all, The story was just too simple. It's a love story, and has an extremely predictable storyline. Even though the movie is under 90 minutes long, I still felt that it was too long. Secondly, the songs in the movie sucked. SUCKED. No wonder they had to use the song from "Nightmare" in the trailer. There were quite a few songs in the movie, but none of them were memorable. Third, there's this scene in the movie where the skeletons danced. I HATED it. Don't know why, but I just HATE skeleton dances! hehe.

Despite all of the above though, I'm still glad that I watched it. Afterall, how can I miss out on a world that was created by Tim Burton?

The ghost is so good, I don’t even ask you to have a car or a house to marry you.

Still not used to such a dark cartoon.
