I was interested in the character, so I checked it out

1. The movie says that Troutmann joined the Nazis voluntarily, but in fact, he joined the Hitler Boys at the age of 10.

2. The game in which Troutman fractured his cervical spine mentioned in the movie was the 1956 FA Cup in England. He fractured 5 places, still insisted on the game and saved the key ball. In the end, the team won the championship, and he also became the first goalkeeper. The person who won the "England Footballer".

3. Two weeks after the fractured cervical spine, his son died in a car accident, but at the end of 1956, Troutman returned to the game again.

4. In 1964, Troutman retired. After retiring, he wandered around. In 1971, he divorced his wife.

5. After retirement, Troutman worked as a coach for many small countries in Myanmar, Libya, and Pakistan. When coaching the Myanmar team, he led the team to win the Presidents Cup and the Southeast Asian Games championship.

6. In 2005, Troutman was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame and received the Order of the British Empire from the Queen of England. Interestingly, he was the only person who received both the Nazi Iron Cross and the Order of the "Allied" Empire.

7. Trautman died in Spain in 2013, and his sculpture is still in the Manchester City Club Museum

German Football Federation president Nielsbach said: "Bert Trautmann was a great footballer and a true gentleman. He went to England as a soldier, an enemy in war, but ultimately a victim of Respected hero. He is a legend and his extraordinary career will go down in history forever."

The Keeper quotes

  • Jack Friar: Look, it's all or nothing now. It's shit or bust. We can't afford to lose another game, so I want this Kraut to play for us. I've seen him play and I'm telling you, lads, he's the best goalkeeper that'll ever stand between them poles.

  • Jack Friar: You see, In England a German "no" means "yes".
