This time, the "The Holiday" has made fans look forward to it because of the star-studded series, expecting to find a touch of emotional resonance and a "visual" feast at the end of 2006, when it was boring and "blockbuster" permeated.
It seems that Nancy disappointed us somewhat, even though it was still a decent movie.
The movie opens a bit like "BJ's Diary," where a woman who is about to break up is babbling about inexplicably, but you don't know who that woman is until you see Kate Winslet a few seconds later.
Kate is known to be a very good actress, but for some reason, all I see in this movie are her flaws. Bloated, clumsy, over-acting...and the formerly elegant, unmarked, wise Kate Winslet seems to be a different person. I don't know if Kate is really not suitable for such a movie or if the director has a problem with the use of people.
The film continues with a slow plot. Britain's Kate and America's Cameron have both fallen out of love, met online and decided to swap places to start their respective holidays. So they finally found their love in a foreign country. It's just such a story, 90 minutes might be a good fit, but Nancy used 130 minutes, so it's still a very hasty ending.
In addition to Kate disappointing, Cameron's performance is not as expected. More crucially, in a film like this, Cameron Diaz's superficial performance is immediately nostalgic for Julia Roberts and clearly sees the gap between them, maybe it's Cameron The last thing Long wanted to see, right? Although Roberts is gradually fading out of Hollywood, Cameron does not seem to be the first sister as some film critics expected. Instead, the younger Reese Witherspoon quickly rose to the top and became the Oscar winner. It can be seen that if Cameron does not have a breakthrough in acting, her Hollywood Walk of Fame will no longer be flat.
Actors are mediocre. Jude Law is still handsome and cute, but Fat Jack makes people see the other side of his crazy and funny, maybe he is the most rewarding person in this movie.
As an American Christmas movie, "The Holiday" isn't a flop, with a story that speaks for itself, an entertaining cast, and some worse antagonists, like "Santa 3." But as a Nancy Myers movie, it's true that it falls short.
