"Youth Spring"
means "blue spring".
Also "youth".

Aoki blew the wind all night, and finally counted to thirteen.
He falls.
"Drop"

by Thee Michelle Gun Elephant

has many clips that make you laugh.
For example, when Yukino stabbed Ota with a knife.
As expected, things won't end so easily at all.
Like Hino Haruya, he took out his weapon from behind with a genius.
"You, do you want to die?"
Kill him. kill him. kill him.
Pacifist Yukino, you are so cool.
He was later caught in a police car as expected.
Why does he growl hysterically?

Because in his cognition there is nothing wrong with killing people.
Destroyed because of disgust.
Pacifist Snowman.

Youth is always capricious.
Kujo became the boss overnight.
Kimura turned into a gangster overnight.
Yoshimura turned into a scoundrel overnight.
Kujo returned to campus overnight.
Aoki saw through his youth overnight.
Youth should be like this, free and easy.
Do bad things early.
Romance comes early.

The competition at the top of "Youth Spring"
is very romantic.
Biting an aluminum can with your teeth is romantic.
It is very romantic to say that it was a cherry blossom in a previous life.
The graffiti on the concrete floor on the table is very romantic.
Football is romantic. Baseball is romantic.
The overnight change is very romantic.

Aoki's death was romantic.

Drop's youth.
Fall, fall, fall again.

Especially good. It could have been hilarious, violent, decadent, or painful, but it wasn't, and that's where it's good. Toshiyuki Toyoda's dislike of sensationalism has fully played its due glory here. He did not decorate his characters with rhetoric to appeal to the audience's interest, nor did he make any hints about the characters' family backgrounds to appeal to the audience's sympathy. Jiujo represents this school, symbolizing the belief in beauty, the future, and hope that the teenagers once held. They had gathered beside Jiujo and then left one by one. The first half of the film is about the process of the world losing these teenagers. Then the story goes back to Kujo and Aoki, Aoki exists to fight against the symbol of Kujo. Can one believe so easily in the existence of beauty and meaning in the world and hold on to that belief? Aoki denied such ease, he chose to struggle, and after 13 shots, he fell from the building and died. He proves his life's dynamism through death. The bland narrative of the entire film transitioned through a time-lapse shot of Aoki standing on the rooftop overnight, and reached its climax in a slow-motion shot of Kujo rushing towards Aoki, and my breathing stopped in an instant.

Very porridge, very porridge~ I think it is the representative work of Japanese hot-blooded youth films~ Even hot-blooded colleges can't surpass it. . . Let's clap for it~

Blue Spring quotes

  • Kujo: Teacher, aren't there some flowers that never bloom?

Hanada-sensei: Flowers are meant to bloom, not to dry up. That's what I choose to believe. It's a very important thing.

  • Kujo: I don't have any other friends.

Kimura: I think it's your personality that's the problem.

    Kujo: Maybe.
