A western starring Brad Pitt and young actor Kathy Affleck, it's a story about the ultimate disillusionment of one's unrealistic fantasies.

The movie is called Death of the Sharpshooter, and the sharpshooter is Jesse James, a real figure in American history who was active during the Civil War and belonged to the South at that time.

Jesse himself was actually a gangster and a robber, but in the eyes of many people at the time, he was a charismatic robber who robbed the rich to help the poor, a Robin Hood-like figure. Maybe it's because of his charisma, maybe it's political propaganda with a political purpose, or maybe it's a media stunt, but in any case, it's such a person who was finally betrayed by his little brother Robert Ford. .

Robert Ford actually admired Jesse a lot, but he ended up betraying Jesse. This may not be too difficult to understand, because human emotions are inherently wonderful and complex: adoration can turn into contempt for people, love can turn into disgust, love can turn into hate, hate can turn into hate Being in love - these complex and wonderful emotions of people are also shown in the movie.

The story of betrayal is so moving, I've heard people say it's a masterpiece, and yes, it's a masterpiece.

    The plot is too slow

The title and length of the film are quite long, but I definitely don't feel bored after watching it, and I really like the photography and soundtrack with double images! Casey Affleck's role is really good for the complex emotional display of childhood idols (it seems, of course, that Pitt has won the best actor in Venice). Literary Westerns (actually I watch very few Westerns), very good~ (Some people say they are basic friends. =_=)

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford quotes

  • Jesse James: Don't tell me what I can and can not do, Ed.

  • Ed Miller: I was with a girl once. Wasn't a squaw, but she was purty. She had yellow hair, like uh... oh, like something.

Dick Liddil: Like hair bobbed from a ray of sunlight?

Ed Miller: Yeah, yeah. Like that. Boy, you talk good.

Dick Liddil: You can hide things in vocabulary.

Ed Miller: Maybe you and me could writer her a note, send it by post?

Dick Liddil: See, all you gotta do, Ed, is predict her needs and beat her to the punch.

Ed Miller: Well, this girl, she had a real specific job.

    Dick Liddil: Specific?

Ed Miller: We's only together once. She's afraid of lightning. She came up into the wagon and just cuddled right up to me. She gave me a kind price, too.

Dick Liddil: Well I'll be! That is specific.

Ed Miller: Yeah, sure, she been with other people. But the kinds of things she said to me, people just don't say unless they really mean it.

Dick Liddil: "My love said she would marry only me, and Jove himself could not make her care, for what women say to lovers, you'll agree, one writes on running water, or on air."

Ed Miller: My God that's good. Let's write her that.

Dick Liddil: Naw. Poetry don't work on whores.
