Under the prestige, it is actually difficult to match

This film was heavily recommended by a friend, and said it was far better than the adaptation of the Coen brothers. The notorious "borrowing" method of American movies has indeed turned many classics into less classics. At least some of the films I've seen are less than satisfactory, although some of them actually surpassed the original classics.

But when it comes to the original version of the old woman killer, maybe the previous expectations were too high, so it seems a little unsatisfactory. First of all, there is a problem with the overall design. Why must the money be transferred to the station and then delivered by an old lady to be safe? Wouldn't it be better to find a quiet place for a while? This doesn't seem like the best solution a smart thief came up with. Once again, since the old lady found out, what the thieves do is nothing more than: the ruthless thief will quickly kill the old lady regardless of the 3721, and the gentle thief should just run away and think of an old lady who speaks in vain. It is not so easy to describe the five people to the police. After the police have drawn pictures and figures, several people have already fled, so why go back and persuade the old lady. (Another little bug is that since the banknotes are all over the street and blowing away in the wind, can the old lady see it, can’t others see it in the window? These thieves dare to bring money, pay attention, bring money , going back to the old lady's house is really daring and stupid to die). Well, even if we are in a harmonious society in England, even thieves are so gentle, they use the most gentlemanly way to solve the problem, several people are all bodhisattva-hearted, and they refuse to give heavy hand to unfamiliar old ladies. , but what about the sudden death between you and the partners? With such ruthlessness, wouldn't it be easier to kill the old lady with your hands? In short, from the story line alone, this film has many logical flaws. The Coen brothers may have also discovered these logical flaws, so they have to dig a hole in the basement of the old lady, which is a more reasonable solution to why they use music. A series of causal relationships in the name of the family, why they stay there, and why they must find a way to kill this old lady.

I have always felt that the quality of a film is first and foremost the quality of the story, and everything else, such as acting, music, photography, etc., serves the story itself. A film with a very confusing screenwriter cannot praise how expressive the acting is, how wonderful the pictures are, or how wonderful the music is (except for music and scenery films, of course). You can't scramble a rotten egg into a delicious meal no matter how fancy condiments you use. So since there are so many logical problems in the film, I wonder where else can I applaud him.

The Ladykillers quotes

  • Louisa Wilberforce: Simply try for one hour to behave like gentlemen.

  • [last lines]

The Sergeant: [chasing Mrs. Wilberforce as she is leaving the police station] Mrs. Wilberforce, wait! Just a moment!

The Sergeant: [holding out Mrs. Wilberforce's umbrella toward her] You forgot it, mum.

Louisa Wilberforce: [reaching for the umbrella, then changing her mind] Oh. Oh, no I don't think I want it. I never liked it. Now I can buy a dozen new ones. Oh, uh, good morning, Sergeant.

Louisa Wilberforce: [as she heads home, she stops in front of a starving artist looking at his artwork] Oh! They're very good, very good.

Starving Artist: Turned out nice, huh?

Louisa Wilberforce: [handing him a bank note] Yes, it-it has!

Starving Artist: [startled by the generous amount of money] Oh! Hey, hey! Hey, look! Here, lady! Look!

[Mrs. Wilberforce continues happily to make her way home]
