Speaking of "Under the Sun", we have to mention the documentary "China" shot by Italian director Antonioni.
"China" was filmed in 1972, when the Chinese government decided to invite a master to shoot a "propaganda documentary" for China. Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni, became the best candidate. He didn't obey the government's arrangement, and turned around and got into the daily life of the people, so he appeared on the camera, an old man practicing in the park, a little girl playing cards in the shade of a tree; in the rural market, people brought food , poultry and homemade food, bartered there; children in big vests and pants at the top of the village eating popsicles and playing table tennis in the dry land; cyclists, old ladies with bound feet, and after school Playful children... Needless to say, these scenes were completely contrary to the mainstream propaganda direction of hard work, cleanliness and hard work advocated at that time. Therefore, Antonioni was criticized at that time.
But thirty years later, on November 25, 2004, the documentary "China" was screened for the first time in Beijing, China, in a film festival organized by the Beijing Film Academy to commemorate the contributions of Michelangelo Antonioni. Antonioni said in the film's narration that they only had "one look at China". This glance has become a precious material for us to trace the past. Maybe you haven't seen Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall, schools, and people's communes 40 years ago; nor have you seen old-fashioned buses, puppet shows, and acrobatics; but seeing these pictures will make people feel a sense of happiness.
On March 16, 2019, CCTV replayed these pictures and produced "From "China" to China".
Through various clues, the documentary also traced the architecture at that time, the pictures at that time, and the people who appeared in "China" at that time. For more than 40 years, the characters in the documentary, children have entered middle age, and many people who were in their prime have died.
From the "banned film" of the year to the current release, I think it is precisely because of the rapid economic development, the improvement of people's quality, and the openness and inclusiveness of society that the real documentary "China" can be named.
History tells us that a cult of personality doesn't work. Regardless of whether "Under the Sun" is real or the director's conspiracy, I believe that one day in the future North Korea will wake up and look directly at this film. Come on, Korean people!
